Love all the inner courtyards in the haciendas...something so cozy about them. Notice the ristra...hanging red peppers...on the side...supposed to ward off evil spirits. They were everywhere we went.

USS Iowa anchor chains. Each link weighs 128 pounds and each chain is more than 1,000 feet long. Two anchors are at the bow of the ship and each weighs about 30,000 pounds.

This bunny has been entertaining us all summer. It is on the porch here. A gray and red squirrel below in the grass. Pic 2 is the bunny with strange black streak on it's side. The mark has been there for months. Pics taken through glass and screen.

Nicole, did you say you used cling wrap ? ? ?

    last modified: 7 years ago

Dolly....sort of.......it's a product that adheres with static cling. It's not sticky. It's called "RabbitGoo". I thought others would find it "interesting" and the fact they wouldn't donate such pretty doors....it was a trash pile rescue. That and replacing the brass handle were my only costs.

Sounds interesting, nicole. Sorry I missed seeing what it was about. :(

Thanks Nicole. I want to get some. The doors were beautiful.

I wish i saw what you had before, Nicole.

Nicole, I'm so sorry you felt like you were made fun of! And I am VERY sorry I missed your picture! ! It sounds so interesting, judging from the posts above.

Would you consider reposting it? Please? Maybe in another thread if you're uncomfortable here?

Oooops.......didn't mean to make ya all feel sorry for me. :0) Seriously! I post Bargain threads...so ya all know I like deals!

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These doors were in a trash pile, replaced by "barn doors" on a commercial job. I replaced the polished brass wing handle & applied static cling to the glass. It's a bedroom entry.

I said in the original post I was following Annie's lead and posting something architectural. Decorative doors lend architectural interest to a property.....or so I thought.....maybe these are too ugly? This house sold last July.......the new owner can throw them out if he/she likes. :0)

Beautiful doors, Nicole! The things people throw away is amazing and so wasteful. One of the things I like about the Habitat for Humanity stores is that they offer new and used building materials for sale at great savings to the public which keeps those materials from going into the dumpsters.

I didn't see the original post, but I thought Moni meant that the roller coaster she posted was an example of great architecture. I'm a big chicken - couldn't pay me enough to get on one of those things! But, we all know that Moni has an adventurous spirit.

Lovely job on the doors. Though, I have to say, details about the Sex Shop might be more interesting.

Totally! Did you go in Glenda?

Moni...oops....but a bird photo did seem safer. I like my dumpster finds...but not everyones going to like it....I get that. Birds aren't MY handiwork....if you hate a bird you can lodge your complaint with a higher authority. LOL now that's funny!

Are you kidding? Those doors are gorgeous, nicole! I wish I could find some like that for our office. I can't find good used ones. Unfortunately, our Habitat For Humanity shop had me never returning after one visit. Absolutely nothing of even mild interest, and a $850 price tag on an incorrectly templated manufactured countertop, because who wouldn't want 18" of counterspace in front of a sink bowl, and a 33' reach for the knobs, right?

Thanks for reposting, Nicole! Those doors are beautiful! ! And I, for one, love seeing 'dumpster finds'! I would love to be able to do some dumpster diving myself, but those days are over for me, so I enjoy it through others' posts.

gry.... Thanks! This store mis-prices things ALL the time too. I go to the head guy @ Habitat and he marks things down for me.

Rusty...I'll try to post more dumpster find re-dos now I know there's some interest.

This China Cabinet was in a building across the street from where I lived in Minnesota that was going to be torn down. With the tacit approval of the group that was doing the demolition, I removed the cabinet (which was built-in-place) with the wall serving as the back wall of the cabinet. I made a back panel, spiffed up the hardware, and use it to this day to store the crystal and and china my wife inherited from her grandparents.

I LOVE those doors. I can't believe anyone would throw them out. Their loss, your gain

igmd, I wanted to comment on your bunny with the black streak this morning but had to leave. I'm wondering if the "streak" is a scar, perhaps road rash from being nearly run over by a vehicle? or a predator attack. Cute little guy.

    Love the doors!

Love riding old wooden roller coasters!

    Sex Shop? What Sex Shop?

I love your doors, Nicole. You do find the best stuff and I love how you made them opaque. Nice job!

Nicole, I love those doors also. You have good taste!

Schoolhouse, That dark area has been there since the bunny was the size of a smallish squirrel and showed up in the yard with it's mother in May. The mother was killed on the road soon after we first saw them together. We have become quite fond of "Bunny" and "Bunny" seems to know that we can be trusted. Right now we are a little concerned...haven't seen it since Tuesday. Have seen a fox in the yard a few times in the past couple weeks.
