Need Professional Painters Help

I need someone to explain to me if the picture below is primer or paint, I think it is paint but hoping I am wrong.

Background full house restoration from flooding. I asked contractor to use Benjamin Moore White Dove. He talked me into Sherwin Williams and said they could do a color match to White Dove, for ceiling and Trim.

When I stopped by to today to check on progress, I found this can, there was no other paint cans nearby and this appears to be what is on my ceilings, which is fresh drywall.

Please...what are your thoughts. I am so irritated but my husband keeps telling me I am over reacting.

With paint sprayers, it is very possible to prime and paint entire houses in one day. Back in my younger days, I could do two houses in an 8 hour work day.

According to this page from the SW site this is the ProMar 400 Zero VOC Interior Latex Paint info listed. And it would be a custom mixed color as the label states. SW color matched should match the BM perfectly as computerized color matching is very accurate these days (especially the major brands).

My concern now is that I have a contractor grade flat paint with no primer being put on beforehand on new drywall in my kitchen and bathroom and several other locations throughout the house.

Hi, I just wanted to give a few pointers on spraying... an HPLV sprayer is incredibly useful but please be careful (or do not use at all) to spray a house. While they are far better than siphon feed sprayers, they still create a fair bit of overspray. This is fine if you are spraying lacquer on cabinet doors outside- the lacquer is dry in seconds in the air - its just dust by the time its travelled next door. But when spraying house paint, any wind will end up painting the neighbours house/car/pet/laundry...it can be a tough conversation afterwards (and can be rather expensive.) Use an airless paint sprayer for houses - much more direct spray and a heavier coat. They are cheap as well. Also, for a DIY with an HPLV, you need a decent compressor to get the right flow - the little hotdog/pancake compressors will not normally/likely support the CFM's required by a spray gun. just my 2 cents. It's hard to say without knowing the exact sizes of rooms, sizes of trim, vaults in ceilings...etc, etc, I could go on and on. My base price is $2.60 per square foot....or at least it was back when people were still building homes. This is not including 'extras' which usually bumps up the price a few thousand more. A house that size could cost $13-$22K to paint depending on a bunch of factors. And, yes most trim carpenters are not used to hanging trim on a new build on walls that are already finished painted. Usually walls get painted after trim.

My in laws got 2 estimates today for exterior painting. Low cost of living area. One was $3500 and one was $2000. The higher one had a "crew" and had a pretty aggressive sales pitch. The lower one was going to do the work himself. Maybe overhead has something to do with it.

Leave it the stain that it is, it matches in with your beams, very nicely. Also goes with your floor, more than black would.

Was primer specified in the contract? Some painters use flat paint directly on the drywall with no primer.

this is just for one small area basically the entire upper for my house has all new ceilings and walls.

2 SF 0.37+ 1.72 = 0.26 4.00 23.95

51. PNT S- + Seal the ceiling w/PVA primer - one coat

C 9.42 SF 0.00+ 0.43 = 0.02 0.82 4.89

52. PNT P2 + Paint the walls and ceiling - two coats

The scope of work calls for this throughout the house. I copied and pasted the first thing I came to. Each area throughout my entire house states the same thing just different sizes of rooms and closets.

I guess there's always a chance they took the primer but somehow I doubt. We go over everyday after work and take pictures of what they've done. I would think if they put primer on, it would need at least a day to painted on throughout the house and let it dry so they could paint. thanks for everyone's input this has been a really tough thing for us and the contractor has left a lot to be desired. We had to oak trees fall on the house and had to have 15 new trusses put in plus the majority of our upstairs was destroyed and gutted. This happened back in May and we just got our roof replaced 2 weeks ago.

That is definitely interior Flat PAINT. In the 5G pail, there's just a little "B" (Black) colorant, that's it.

Most likely it was separately primed with whatever cheap-crap primer they travel with.
