Mysterious white dots on Bird's Nest Fern

Hi everyone,

Last week I was given this plant, I believe it's a Bird's Nest Fern, though that may be wrong. This plant is a little more complicated than what I'm used to, like succulents, herbs, and pothos.

Today I noticed a caterpillar crawling on it, and after removing it I wanted to check the rest of the leaves for signs of other insects. I found these tiny white dots scattered around, mostly on the bottoms of leaves or around the middle vein. They're smaller than a grain of sand, and about twice as long as they are wide. They feel completely dry, and I haven't found any sticky residue around them, although the leaves visually look like liquid has dried on them.

Anyone more knowledgeable than me know what I should do?

Thanks!
