Paint Home Decorating Exterior

looking for exterior paint color

I really need help picking out an exterior paint color. We have black windows with a dark brown stained mahogany door. Going to go with black gutters and maybe some type of shudders. Any suggestions? It’s currently primed white. We were going to go a softer white color but wondering what others thought. Thanks!

I thought the idea was to make gutters disappear/blend in. Who knew? It seems white is a popular house color w black windows and/or gutters.

What color is this? Greenish/gray?

Yes. Most of the major paint manufacturer's websites have some type of "visualizer" so that you can upload a picture of the area you want to paint and then "paint" the area with various colors.

The roof is less than 5 years but it looks bad to me, shingles not tight, warping, no leaks but we will eventually have to replace. I was thinking about matching the garage to the anderson "terratone" color and then putting in a funky front door in a chocolate brown. Then maybe doing the siding in a coordinating chocolate brown. Your brick looks like the classic red mix? That's always stunning with a black roof. I think your options will be clearer once you have the dark gray/black roof. Others will have suggestions, I'm sure.

It may not be what you envisioned, but it's a very pretty, soft, fresh color. With a grey roof, white trim, and green landscaping, it could end up being a happy accident. The blue will be toned down when you get green landscaping in rather than the pinkish dirt, and your house won't look like the gray one right next door.

Yes I thought the same on the gutters. Our contractor and decorator however told us they would suggest black gutters because you should treat the gutters a like crown molding. I tend to like the black gutters also.

I envision a slatey blue exterior for that house. I'd paint the front door red.

Don't install the shutters. You have big, beautiful windows. Don't ruin the look with the wrong sized shutters.

Your windows are too large for properly sized shutters. You simply don't have the wall room next to your big windows unless you put in the ugly undersized shutters which would ruin your home's appearance. As to the black gutters and downspouts: where are you putting them? The black downspouts will highlight that area no matter which color you chose to paint the body of the house. Is that the intent? Or is the intent to have black gutters and all the downspouts painted the same color as the body? Please clarify.

Work on your hardscaping (walkway at the entrances is too narrow) and landscaping to truly finish your home. Landscaping can make or break your home's appearance and would be far better than the shutters IMO.

I think on of the " tans" suggested would be great. I would not prefer gray or blue. As Denita mentioned killer landscape/hardscape will bring you home to a new level!

Thank you all. Also liking this oyster white I found. Definitely planning an upgrade on all the landscaping and to level out the front landscaping a bit.

Love the oyster white, I'd do that with the black or brown trim, no shutters, a stunning soft blue door.
