Hi Stefny, to post pics you must upload pictures to a place like photobucket..under the picture in photobucket there will be a list of code...copy the one that says html code and come back to garden web and paste it in the box where you type...then click preview...if the picture shows there it will show here. Ps..If I were you I would post this in the garden web forum home decorating..there are quite a few photoshopians there.

I agree with the others. Teeny-tiny trim painted a contrasting color is not appealing. It just looks patchy. Paint all trim the same color as the house. If you want contrast, paint the door itself a contrasting color. And/or install nice wide shutters (same color as the door) on the upper two windows.

Thank you so much all the suggestions. The age of the home is 1989. I agree 100% that landscape with really warm up the home. I love the idea of framing the door with large trees. I purchased two large flower pots and will add them to the front porch. Thanks so much for the shutter feedback. I agree painting the home one single color will help. Almost every home in the neighborhood has window grills so I purchased some diy ones online however because the new windows have the low e glass and screens they were hard to see from the street. You had to get up close to really even see them and to be honest they looked cheap. Is there a company that offers larger window grills?

Give your hydrangeas time to grow. They will fill in nicely. Every shrub needs occasional pruning. If you get a good quality pruning tool, you can easily manage it. It takes practice to get it right, but you'll learn. Try to keep the shapes natural looking. Your holly might come back so I would give it time to recover and grow new shoots. You need plants like yews and the boxwood to anchor the space especially in the winter. So please don't pull them out. For spring time color, daffodils are great. They come in a wide variety of colors and the rodents don't eat them. (I got mine mail order from John Sheeper - Van Englen - they are first rate. Located in Connecticut.) There are so many wonderful perennials, you won't need many, if any, annuals. Annuals are great for a long season of bloom and look wonderful planted in containers. Japanese Anemone are a lush perennial that come back every spring but die back in the winter. They are very beautiful and their flowers last a long time. Rodgersia 'Rotlaub' bronze colored spring growth contrasts with Little Heath andromeda which also has pink new growth in spring. I think an andromeda would look good in your garden. This gardener keeps her plants all winter. What a beautiful sight! Sedums are another favorite of mine. I have plant that are decades old and still thriving.
