The furniture is disjointed. As a first step, turn the rug the other direction. I don't like the leaf print chair, but the swivel chair's profile is too low for the sectional. Are their any other pieces that can be brought in?

Can you show the other sides of the room? The sofa looks awkward where it is. Maybe we can help re-arrange the room to look and flow better.

The ottoman in the middle is not working for me – it’s too big (looks like you have to climb over it to sit down). As much as I love the little painted end table – it doesn’t go with your other stuff, especially the rug. I think you need a bigger rug too. What color is the new chair you have coming? I’d be thrilled to get 14 years out of a sofa, when you’re ready to retire it, I think a sofa & 2 matching chairs would fit your space much better.

The ottoman and the art first jump out at me. They do not seem to work. Could a section or two be removed from the sofa creating a smaller footprint? I like the rug and red chair ( good color). Add a nice lamp to the end table and perhaps some lined off-white window panels.

Decided to replace the big sectional! We are looking at sofas /small sectionals, chairs, etc to make the footprint smaller. All the comments have been helpful in getting us to see we need some major changes. Thank you!

When you say "getting rid of all" what does that include?

You've got too much furniture in a small space. A whole lot of small things hanging on the walls. This creates a frenetic look. Not restful.

Consider getting two identical sofas so they could face each other with the fireplace in the middle. Like in these pics. This takes the guess work out of arranging.

It will be fun to shop for new furniture. Be sure to take careful measurements and to account for walkways.

When shopping for a sofa look for a style that's more streamlined than what you have now and try to have some exposed legs - it will help the room look more spacious. Something along the lines below - all from Hancock and Moore.

Here are a couple of arrangements to consider. They both take the TV from above the fireplace and put on a solid wall. Maybe they will be helpful. Good luck and have fun!
