First House - Living Room Furniture Dilemma
Comments (9)Your paint color will need to go well with the wood flooring and trim. Is there some piece of the trim that you could take to a paint store and get advice on complementary colors? It's going to cost you a bit to paint that large space, so you want to get the color right the first time. I'm not so sure a blue-gray will work well with that trim, but I leave that to the color experts. It's a dramatic looking room, but it has challenges for furniture placement. The sectional that is there now looks like it fits in well. Any chance you might want to buy it from the sellers? If it were my house, I would be thinking of removing the wood stove down the road. (Unless you simply love or need a wood stove.) That pipe going to the ceiling isn't particularly attractive, especially with the kink in it. Comments (4)Hi All, Thanks for your response... I want space more family friendly. We spend evening time watching TV there. Usually we are 3 but it should be able accommodate 2-3 more guest on need basis... Living room is open to Kitchen from 2 sides (Dotted lines). Will ottoman in front of fireplace look good? Is 5 seater sectional recommended opposite to TV? Do you suggest love seat or 2 chairs on the wall apposite to sofa, considering 7 ft wide wall and wall mounted TV in corner? Is chair under wall mounted TV recommended? Should color of 3 seater sofa and Chairs match? I do not want bulky furniture. I love minimalist look furniture which do not compromise on seating capacity....See Moreidea dilemma for living room furniture

Comments (7)The focal point of a family room is always the fireplace/TV, and that sets the stage for how the furniture should be configured. So in your case, I would move the TV to the wall that has the fireplace. I would get two pieces of matching wood furniture cabinets to go on either side of the fireplace, and then hang the TV over one of them. Then pull your couch into the center of the room facing that focal point wall you just created. Then get two accents chairs to complete the seating configuration. And then you need a larger coffee table. Start with that....See Moreleelee
