Miele Combi steam oven owners' thread
Comments (506)75-250 is indeed a pretty large range. But not too unusual to do that. According to https://www.ysi.com/water-hardness that would be somewhere between soft and slightly hard (no particular endorsement; this was just the first site that I found online). I don't think you'd go horribly wrong by telling your oven to treat this as "medium". Worst case, it prompts you to descale the unit more frequently than strictly necessary. That'll waste a little money on supplies. But if in doubt, that's better than wasting money on repairs. I recommend you buy the descaling tabs in bulk. They regularly show up on Amazon and other online services. And they definitely get cheaper if you buy a bigger package. You'll need two per descale cycle. I usually need to do so every six to nine months. But that might not be the same for you. We use the steam oven very frequently, but we have very soft water. Also, you absolutely want to make sure you have tabs on hand, when the unit needs it. You don't want to find yourself in a situation where you can't use the oven for a few days while waiting for supplies....See MoreMiele DGC6805XL Combi Steam Oven - Pairing with other wall oven
Comments (9)@pglover19 Oven wall behind broiler element is definitely harder to clean, but that's also a deciding factor if you want broiler element in steam combi oven that can be used with steam at the same time, or if you can live without broiler element and have smooth oven walls with few interruption that are easier to clean. If I am not mistaken, wolf (as well as v-zug) steam combi oven also does not have top and bottom heating element. Anyway, if you get a Miele pyro oven that has moisture plus feature, you can always opt for doing spattering food in the pyro oven. Comments (13)How do you use your oven? I would look at Electrolux as well. It has been recently redesigned so no feedback from the new ones yet but they have gone to dual fans/elements and the racks can be left in for cleaning. They seem to be going the right way. They might not have as many modes as Miele or Gagg but the ones they have are highly usable. They have varying fan speeds, slow for conv bake and high for convection roast. I prefer a slower speed for baking and higher for roasting. Not every oven has this. They do not have pure convection mode but it is not missed and I do a lot of baking. It is also the hardest mode to get right. People do seem very happy with Bosch as well. It was a favorite on this forum before the redesign. Miele and Gagg are more complex so a little bit more of a learning curve but would give more options. Wolf seems to have gone to one fan speed in the M series as they have gotten rid if the conv bake which is the mode I used when using convection. I don't know if it can be varied in some other way, maybe in the gourmet program. You can hear the difference in the fan speed, so if you see an oven live you can tell. I think BS has one speed and they have a quirky thing where you preheat the oven and when you add food you have to press start or the heat turns off. I don't think they have a delay start either. I would read the manuals of any you are seriously considering. You can learn a lot that way....See MoreBertazzoni steam OR Advantium 240...kids cooking
Comments (22)We are going to have a Miele H6800BM SpeedOven and a DGC68051XL CSO. They are currently in boxes in the new kitchen waiting to be installed. So, can't quite tell you yet, how they are working out for us. But I have had a chance to play with them a couple of times during cooking classes at the Miele experience center. Very excited about the steam oven. Somewhat excited about the speed oven. I have owned a speed oven before. It's a useful tool. But it's not as revolutionary as a steam oven. I am glad that we have space and budget for both....See MoreM
