Comments (807)My Sea Pearl had bluish tones that turned greenish once in my home. Will they give you a sample? My stoneyard did not so I took a chance. Did you see the chart Karin_MT made up? Maybe you could go by her description of the various levels of quartzite. Will they let you do a water absorption test? The crystalline quartzite is easy to spot. Look at the names on the right, find one in your stoneyard and look for the grains, cross bedding, crystalline structure to see which one comes closest to looking like your stone. You might try either lemon juice or vinegar on a small paper towel in a zipper bag or maybe you could use an extra small empty hand sanitizer bottle. Don't ask...don't tell??? Don't forget to test it in different spots on the stone, not just one spot. Same with the glass test...use different spots. Read this article that Karin wrote about telling white stones apart. https://usenaturalstone.org/telling-white-stones-apart/ https://usenaturalstone.org/how-to-be-your-own-stone-sleuth/ And this one is excellent. https://usenaturalstone.org/properties-of-quartzite/...See MoreMore purse talk~~~
Comments (17)that question came up here just this week. Our neighbors, in the cul-de-sac behind us (we can see their house from our kitchen windows)... lost everything to a fire monday afternoon. i walked into my kitchen to start dinner, looked out the window and saw the blaze. total loss, took firefighters five hours to put the flames out. First policeman on the scene rescued the two dogs that were in the house. I did not mean to hijack this post. but that event was why the question came up here, of purses, eyeglasses, keys and dog leashes. my DH tends to leave his eyeglasses laying just anywhere and we always have to search for them, and we never keep our cell phones with us at all times. Watching how quickly flames engulfed that beautiful home made me think about how fast we could evacuate this house. Normally it is just me, DH and the two dogs but right now DD3 and her two little boys are living with us. So we would have to get everyone safely outside in a hurry. So i am determined to be a little more organized. Telling all this to remind you all that Precious time could be wasted looking for purses and keys....See MoreMore fashion talk….age appropriate
Comments (20)For me, I'm finding that I have to wear different colors now that I'm older. And a slightly different style. If you're into "Color Me Beautiful" kinds of style advice, I used to be a "Summer" but have aged into a "Winter." The paler shades all alone wash me out. I still love them but need more color up by my face. And I used to love the "Ingenue" look but all that fru fru stuff ages me now. I bought a poufy peasant top two years ago as a beach cover up, was the kind of thing I used to wear all the time, but it looked silly on me. I can still wear some of the hippie peasant styles, but I have to wear more color, particularly up by my face. A little frull and lace goes a long way with me these days. I have old lady arms and don't know if I want to go to all the effort to try and fight it. That's why my wedding dress was particularly bad, pale and sleeveless. I was supposed to wear a hot pink shrug with it but that day in late Sept. was oddly hot. My hair fell that day too . . . oh well, being with friends and family was fun so I am choosing not to dwell on that. I didn't on the day. Now I can't even get into my wedding dress, I've gained about 15 lbs. from then. Trying to take it off but I'm not motivated to exercise and starve myself. So I'm maybe embracing a more "zoftig" personality in my clothing style. I keep telling myself it's only temporary but it may not be. You can still look "put together" and stylish no matter what your age and figure. My Mom was impeccable in her dress until the day she died at 87. I marvel at how she did it, but she was the master of putting together a wardrobe and catalog shopping. I'm seeing a lot of ladies even in their 80s embracing a casual jeans or leggings and tunics or t-shirts style. They are my role models. I have other friends that are more formal, but that's always been their style. I think if you can get by with just a few tweaks, you are lucky. I have to do a revamp only because my body has revamped....See MoreMore fashion talk.....not what you think
Comments (31)I like that NorthStyle catalog look since I hate wearing coats/jackets and I like vests. Plus it doesn’t get that cold here. I have a white Untuckit button down that I love, but I am a little too heavy to wear it right now. 😩 It looks great with my black suit, and I even had my pro head shots taken with that look....See MoreZalco/bring back Sophie!
