We have triple paned tilt-turn windows from Germany. My comment is that if you split the window in two and both sides are operational, that window will be very heavy. It is not a problem for the tilt position, but if you swing it open, when you swing it closed you may need to lift it slightly in order for it to close properly. I am basing this on the windows we have that have openings about that size. I like WoW's idea of a 25:50:25 window.

I live on a golf course as well, about 60 yards down the fairway from the men's tee. My backyard is lined with large trees (ball catchers) and I have a nice open porch and an enclosed porch on the back of the house, both only 20 yards from the fairway. We are empty nesters, but I am concerned when my grandchildren are here, and for myself as well. A well-struck golf ball can do serious damage to a person. I much prefer to sit on the open porch, but when there are a lot of golfers I sit in the enclosed one. A short story - during men's league evening, I was safe inside my enclosed porch watching the golfers. Even though I could see them clearly, they obviously couldn't, or didn't, see me. Particularly the one gentleman who decided to relieve himself behind one of my trees - on MY side of the tree. Ha! I shoulda hollered at him midstream!

Thank you all! To add some context, we are working with a custom builder and will have the architect draft our plans however, we get only two revisions upon the first draft. That is why I wanted to come in extra prepared. I'm sure our process is not like a truly custom home -- but I agree I want to leverage the expertise of the architect. Sounds like you're using the builder's "architect". I'm guessing the builder's "architect" is really a draftsman and not a LICENSED architect. Why do I say that? Because our builder basically had us work with his "architect" who turned out to be a draftsman, and a very poor one. Can you instead get your own architect? Even if the person you're using is licensed, chances are they will make it easiest for the builder and not what is best for you because he/she is "paid" by the builder. You bringing him/her your plans is not how a REAL architect works.

Love the look; have always loved the look. When I look at your inspiration photos the trim, (although houzz's new color tool says it is a S W color) it looks like Revere Pewter. When I look at B.M.'s White Dove info, one of the four colors to use with WD is Revere Pewter. I think it will be a winner. I have Revere Pewter on my open area walls, dining/living and large front hallway. I used Kravit fabrics with a pure white sofa and floors in the color of your photos. Love the look.
