Help with Pocket door handles/pull
Comments (21)Yep - your second picture. What I was trying to say is that the lock itself is easy to use. It turns easily and locks just fine. However, if you're trying to use the pull (to open the door, or pull it out of the wall pocket), it isn't all that easy or intuitive. The pull is the tiny piece that is jutting out at the end in your picture. It folds down and lies flat, and then the whole piece can be pushed into the interior of the door too. If the whole assembly is pushed into the door, you sort-of have to know where the pull is. If you push on the top of the pull the bottom pops up (like what is shown in your picture) - but if you don't know that, you are faced with an entire pull assembly that is flush with the door itself. It is spring loaded, and it comes out when pushed upon very easily - again, you just have to know how to use it. :) I hope that makes more sense? The lock is easy to use. The pull is really small though....See MoreNew dishwashers with recessed handles vs pull handles
Comments (2)I just went through selecting a dishwasher. I ended up going with a Bosch with a recessed handled. I selected the recessed handle for two reasons. First, the dishwasher is where I do most of my cooking work like cutting vegetables, etc so I didn't want the handle in the way. Second the recessed handle forces you to apply force to open the dishwasher door more toward the center. Take a dishwasher with a handle and apply a torque to it and they doors seem pretty flimsy. With the recessed handle it forces you to pull in the best spot....See MoreCabinet Handle Pull Size... HELP NEEDED!
Comments (2)Go pick up a couple of different size pulls (handles) at a home improvement store. Take them home and see what you think looks and would feel right on the cabinets. This is just for size, not for what you would really put on there. If the cabinets are not in yet, go to the cabinet displays with your samples and check it out. Whatever you choose, try to get a sample in your hand before you order them all or have them installed. I fell in love with a certain knob. Unfortunately, the matching pull had very little space for your fingers. I ended up choosing a different pull by the same manufacturer in a slightly different style but the same finish. I used knobs on almost all the cabinet doors (the hardware I picked was not cheap, and using pulls everywhere would have been very expensive, there are a lot of cabinets). On the normal sized drawers, I used 4" pulls (Center to center hole measurement). I have two stacks of wide drawers, and I used two 6 3/4 pulls on each of those drawers. I also used the larger pull on the trash pullout and a tall pantry door. I have dark raised panel furniture looking cabinets so I think it looks nice, and I like the way they feel. If you have shaker or a more modern type cabinet, using the same size pull size on everything might be a better choice so you get a sleek consistent look. I did not put pulls on the dummy drawer below the sink. I did not want anyone to mistakenly try to open it, and felt that it would be in my way when working at the sink....See MoreEntry door to be very contemporary, want 24 inch push pull HANDLES
Comments (1)Is this along the lines of what you are thinking? Have you shown photos to your contractor? Of course I don't know how your conversations have gone but is it possible that he is using the word "commercial" for lack of a more extensive vocabulary? Is he actually refusing to give you what you're looking for or does he truly just have no understanding of the concept?...See MoreTrish
