Comments (2)I assume by modern you mean more up to date. Not necessarily modern style like sharp corners, colder tones.... I love what you did and I think adding black trim would be amazing. Remove the landscape. You don’t need much by the porch. You need some by the right side of the house and for that I’d do something neat and simple. Two rows of boxwoods? I would for sure update the walkway. Maybe the same whitewash brick in a herringbone pattern. And can’t wait to see the new shutters. This is such an awesome home!! Love it. Love what you did. Looks amazing and will look even better!!...See MoreHow can we update the front of our house with this dormer?
Comments (26)This might sound odd, but do you see the blank space to the right of the central window on the first floor? In that area, to balance out the door’s awkward location on the left, place a large custom trellis, perhaps out of stained wood or cast aluminum and plant a vine upon it. I think that by placing something to balance the door, even to measuring the exact width and location of the door relative to the dormer above it, you will create symmetry with the dormer. You can create symmetry out of asymmetry by fooling the eye. I suggest a large grid shaped trellis, probably the width of two of your casement windows, and set to the height of the windows, too, that emulates the window patterns. Then, as all here suggest, foundation plantings to fill out your beds and add texture and life to the front of your home. Perhaps, too, symmetrical trees planted in your front yard that would bracket the dormer when viewed from the street. Can anyone create this with photoshop?...See MoreI need help with updating the exterior of our house, please.
Comments (5)can you post a picture of the roof color you're getter? pewter can have blue/gray tones, or brown tones Right now, in your picture, I see regular red brick paired w/a very cool tone siding color. almost looks like a lavender gray. which direction is the front of your house facing? North? East? let me show you a few before and afters , some of which have the replaced windows. see what you're drawn too this frist one did exactly what you want to do to your arch windows. Doesn't look bad. a slightly diff style home though. I like the addition in the gables, the painted brick, updated front door another one w/the rectangles. don't care for it here. I'd do a larger window (black one) and close up the rest of it this one is similar. they removed the arch and didn't replace it. covered it w/the shake. limewashed the brick, took down the arched entryway. added the shutters. looks a bit more french country a bit more modern w/the black windows, wood garage door. new windows (Rombio Classico on the brick) They kept the arch, but removed the grids. along w/the painted brick, wood accents, black windows, it really looks updated...See Moreilovecomputers
