Help, what to do with the blank wall in living room with high ceilings
Comments (4)Decorating happens where the people live. Lots of folks are closing in those massive open rooms and making a media room upstairs. Heating a wasted space isn't always all its cracked up to be. There is plenty going on below that space - in fact, a little to much, IMO. I don't get those blocky built-ins. They are just too chunky and country looking for your stylish architecture.Remove them and install lighted glass shelves with a marvelous collection of something you love - vintage silver pieces, art glass, or an interesting collection to keep the eyes in the people part of the room....See MoreMassive wall w/ vaulted ceiling. Comments (5)Hello Jason Anderson , Great space you have there - very cool! One approach would be to take it's, 'weakness,' (stair location) & turn it into a strength, so let's start there. It seems you have a little built-in underneath going on. Make that little thing a big statement by building it out to create a little mini-bar with integrated wine cooler, some concealed storage and using the depth to make one of those, 'disappearing backsplashes,' that are all the rage. Or create some type of bench. Either way use the natural nook to create a more intimate space for function or private conversation. The big wall with the windows on the left and the door in the middle looks a little unbalanced. You could balance it out and create some drama with a large format painting to the right of the door, over a table or small bookcase and conceal a light behind the exposed beam. Add one or two chairs facing into the space with a coffee table. From there you would put the t.v. / media cabinet to the left of the window wall, a couch facing the window with a console table behind to keep it clean into what looks like a kitchen & you've got the big moves covered. Hope that helps. We give every project a free 15 minute strategy session - hit us up on our profile! Thanks, -frank...See MoreVaulted ceiling help! Big walls, open concept...
Comments (14)Thanks everyone. We have small kids, so I've avoided any rugs under the tables. Our floor gets so gross, and I figured rugs would just get pretty yucky! I've heard you all loud and clear on the nothing above :) The next thing I'd like to work on is replacing the sconces on the walls to something more updated. I like the pendant lights as they add some color and visual interest to the space. Does anyone know of rugs that are easily washable for high-traffic spaces? Also, I've added a "before" picture below. This was what it looked like before we bought the house. I don't have budget for major remodels, so trying to chate things that give the most bang for the buck....See MoreNeed help with large blank wall in main bedroom
Comments (4)If you don't want or need anymore furniture, then a gallery wall is the solution. As for the green, why don't you paint the one wall where you're pretty sure you want it and then think about whether you will want that color on every wall. It wouldn't be for everyone, but if you like it, that's all that matters....See Moretqtqtbw
