Yellow flowered weed or plant? Help!

Is this a plant or weed? If it’s a weed, how do I get rid of it? If it’s a plant, what’s its name? I also live in Australia so I’m not sure if that makes a difference. Cheers

Unless someone recognises it straight off by its habit we are going to need closeups.

Also you’re likely to get a bigger response if you post in the shrubs forum rather than the forums you’ve picked, none of which are relevant to identifying a large shrub.

Maybe Senecio vulgaris, common groundsel??? If so, pretty early for bloom although it is a spring bloomer. Can be tough to control as it has developed resistance to many products. I don't think it is spiny, though it does appear in the pictures like it would be. It looks more... hairy to me than spiny. But, it is still very short and was surprised it was showing blooms. Perhaps the stem is spiny. It's dark out now and my spotlight is out, or I would go check right now! I'll look in the morning and let you know for sure. Thanks!!
