Comments (1)I don't have good pics, but I'd like to hear/see good ideas, too. I have a pair of light-toned wood Bedford ones from PB from several years ago that hold up my desk (link below), but I have a notion of finding a brilliantly-colored tall metal unit. Spray paint, maybe? But I know I've seen colored ones for sale occasionally. I am thinking of painting my Bedford base units, because I've never liked the shade. Here is a link that might be useful: Bedford file cabinets at Pottery Barn...See MoreCabinets just installed not the brand I ordered
Comments (18)Well, it looks like with all your help we're finally getting to the bottom of this, and hopefully this thread might help someone else in the future when shopping for new cabinets. I just received an email from my project manager which echoes what robbcs3 said: "Ok, so I've gotten some clarification on the Norcraft vs Wolf question. From what I've gathered Wolf has always been affiliated with Norcraft for the manufacturing of their higher-end and semi-custom lines, but on January 20th they did a re-branding and named it Wolf Designer. You ordered about a month after that timeframe, so I'm sure they were just still in a transition period. The lower range of Wolf cabinets are Wolf Classic (I even checked some that we recently purchased to confirm). Since this branding is new, and neither company owns the other one they are just affiliated for manufacturing, I believe that is why there is not much info online about it. They also told me that they just started stamping the inside of the drawers since this re-branding (which made it more confusing). I attached the warranty for these cabinets which starts off by stating: WOLF Designer Cabinets are manufactured for WOLF and this warranty is issued by Norcraft Companies, referred to below as 'the Manufacturer.'"...See MorePay a boatload for the appliance store to install or not?
Comments (10)There is no clear answer here. It is a judgment call. Have you read the warrantys for all the appliances you are purchasing? Have you downloaded the installation instructions and presented them to your contractor? Has he installed those appliances in the past? Does he feel confident he can install them? Can he have his carpenter there to make any adjustments? Is he installing the kitchen cabinets? As for the appliance store, it depends on how many of the brand they've installed, which installer you get etc. Our contractor's electrician and plumber installed the appliances originally. They only do high end work and know what they're doing. But I still provided a book to them with all the installation sheets. When I had to retrofit my built in fridge, I bought from a highly rated local dealer. I hired his installer to retrofit the fridge as it was years later. My fridge was not the brand the guy usually works on but he did an ok job. The fee was very high. Installation fees tend to be very high for appliance installation. It's a place where you want to have all the info on hand, supply it, be present during the job and don't try to get a cheap job because you might get lucky but you might need to pay more in the long run to address lack of experience....See More#masterbrand cabinets
Comments (11)Unless those cabinets are against a curved wall, there should be shims or some other material between the cabinet cases near the back. Some installers use a thin piece of plywood or similar if they don't need the adjustability of shims. That said, once cabinets are fastened together, and fastened to the wall, they become an almost monolithic structure, and some space between them is inconsequential in most cases. And I have few issues with Diamond-and they always correct any issues....See Moresofaspud
