Just as an FYI. Indian Blood is generally referred to as the Indian Blood cling peach. Indian Free is the most common nomenclature for the peach which is also an heirloom, but is freestone.

Most productive peach= Polly, a white peach developed in Iowa in the 1920s. Got it from Baylaurel on their special order program. I broke a branch for the second year in a row, in a spring that was tough enough to take out the'Honeycrisp' apple set. Somewhat variable in quality, but I always seem to underthin. Can be sublime. Took a long time (like four years) to come into production. Second most productive peach (for its size): J.H. Hale. Excellent flavor. What they say about it not being vigorous is surely true. Redhaven: Fruitista at work said it was the best peach she had ever tasted in this state. Not to contradict Harvestman,but our spring was actually more snowy than cool. This is a very widely adapted tree, that finds a way to set a crop any which way it can. Its probably not right to draw conclusions from the more marginal situations. Fantastic Elberta. Second year in a row it gave me good fruit after I almost gave up on it. Won't grow it again, though. 'Contender' Not growing much, and the one or two fruits it put out weren't anything special. 'Gleason Elberta' Maybe it will grow and produce fruit.

I was somewhat limited by the equipment I was using. Last summer I rented a Dingo to move mulch and make more mounds. While they are handy to move mulch, they are pretty slow digging, so I really didn't use near enough top soil (because it was slow to dig). However, I had built mounds the same way (layered mulch mounds) the summer before and gotten by with it with no problems. I constructed them by starting with a big mound of mulch (wood chips) on the bottom and then a couple alternating layers of soil and mulch after that. My thought was the layers of mulch would be thin enough they wouldn't compost, but I got the mulch too thick. Before I started using mulch mounds, I made mounds with just plain dirt and have never had any problems with 100% dirt. I agree I don't think mulch on the bottom with a generous amount of topsoil on top would have caused problems, as long as the roots were insulated from the mulch.

Hey bayou rose! I have no idea if it can be grown as a bush. I saw someone's pic earlier in the year and when I contacted Heirloom I thought after I told them I knew of about ten people who wanted it that they said they'd get it back in production. Now they say 25. Grrrrrr. Now I don't know what will happen. If anyone wants one they need to contact Heirloom and ask for Linda!!! Thanks y'all!!!
