mice eating my houseplants?
Comments (31)Trust me when I say you don't want to find anything in those sticky traps ... it will be alive, it will scream, it will squirm, and it will be awful. Snap traps are far less upsetting for everyone ... the mouse is just dead, and the clean-up crew doesn't have to deal with a screaming, squirming, suffering creature. I'll admit we did have one snaptrap victim vanish ... it was there and seemed dead (not a close inspection (just noted from across the basement), and then a few hours later when we went to clean it up, the trap had moved a foot to by a crevace in the floor - concrete floor, not a way out, just a crevace - and the it was empty. No idea what happened there ... but there was no screaming, no squirming, nothing like a gluetrap. I've cleaned those up at a workplace ... it was traumatizing ... and worse, there were two....See MoreHow to repel mice?
Comments (38)I am terrified of mice, and live alone with two small dogs. I first noticed mouse droppings a few weeks ago in my canned goods cabinet. They had chewed through a bag of mint chocolate candy, and eaten the entire 24 ounce bag, of candies that were individually wrapped. I freaked out since they don't like peppermint. So, I got a beeper thing to repel them; it didn't work. I got the sticky traps, and a mouse chewed through the center and freed himself. I then got the old fashioned snappers, and while it caught one mouse, another was caught, and chewed its leg off to escape. I'm so grossed out. So, I called an exterminater, and almost a month later, I have not seen a decrease in droppings. I basically eat all meals out so that there is no food in the kitchen. What's there is in glass or metal jars, or canned goods. The counter tops are disinfected twice a day, and since they don't have crumbs, not sure why I still have the terrifying things. I put the dogs' water in a rabbit bottle so that it is off the ground, and they get fed twice a day, then the food is picked up. Their food is in a trashcan with a sealing lid. I've tried Bounce sheets, steel wool in holes, peppermint oil cotton balls, etc, with no luck. I've left puffs of my hair, dog hair, and a friend's cat hair on counters, with no luck as well. Any other ideas? I can't stand looking or thinking about the things, and need them gone as soon as possible. Thanks!...See MoreGrey Mice in My NEW Kitchen! Cute pics but geez...
Comments (22)I fail to see how those pix could be considered 'cute'. Oh, yuck! I've fought mice in several rent houses before buying my current home. It's older, too, but I do not willing share my home with mice! When literally over-run in the last rental, I went ... in desparation... to a feed store. If you have no pets in the house (therefore, no water dishes), there is a wax based poison that works GREAT. I will not use the sticky traps (don't want to listen to squeals, I think it's cruel). And I don't want them set loose just to return. With the wax based product I used, the mice go outside the house to search for water. When they die, they are not in your house to create smells. The feed store where I bought the product this last time said this is what they use IN THE STORE! so you know it's GOOOODDD!! :-) After getting no help from siblings re: traps reset to rid my mom's home of mice, I put out this product. For the first time in YEARS she hasn't seen the nasty things. Maybe this will help; Good luck!!!...See MoreWater in crawl space...help!
Comments (13)Get a submersible pump - it will pump on plastic down to 1/16" (Home Depot $130) and won't suck up the plastic. that will make quick work of most of it, then you can move the stuff that is stuck in the dips with a soft push broom and finally sponges. I've dealt with moving more water in my build than I even want to tackle again. The 2 things above have saved my sanity (I think)...See Morejoyanof
