Viking Dishwasher EW41-60 Stainles Finish Problems
Comments (0)Big problems with Viking Range Corporations products: We were sold a bill of goods by Sues, Young and Brown, Inc. who have been "performing marketing, warehousing and service support for Viking exclusively throughout Southern California." according to their website. We visited their showroom (display of Viking products only, no sales) and were able to look at all the appliances we were interested in. They had a special show room to compare how Viking stainless steel appliances matched where as mixing other manufacturers stainless steel products did not. We liked the Viking appliances and the way they matched. We ordered a Refrigerator, Cook-top, Single oven, Built in microwave and a EW 41-60 dishwasher. Our order was delayed almost 8 months due to Viking's failure to deliver the refrigerator (the handles were "stuck" in a container ship in Long Beach Harbor, according to our salesman). When we finally got delivery and "certified" Viking installation, in June 2007, the dishwasher front panel did not match. We asked the "certified" installers about this but they would not comment. So we thought that after a few cleanings the panel might match our other appliances, but it did not. We filled out the Viking customer survey with a scathing description of the deficiency and requested them to respond. THEY NEVER DID. We emailed the person at Sues Young and Brown but their email account was "dead" and there was no generic email address. We called the number but failed to reach someone to help us. We asked our salesman to intervene but he did not. Time passed. Evidently Viking has a 90 day time limit to ID "defects". This has been used as an excuse for inaction by Viking. The Viking Range Corporation evidently has no quality assurance function, since they let this, obviously defective finish leave the factory. We have contacted Viking again and are awaiting their reply! HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM? We don't want to spend another $300-$400 with Viking and a certified installer on a supposedly matching front panel. We spent almost $13,000 on appliances with Viking. Boy are we disappointed with their product support. Any suggestions would be appreciated....See MoreViking dishwasher?
Comments (10)The promo is national and it shows on Viking's web site. I wound up buying the induction range (stainless) in Minnesota for $7079. It just came last week and I almost immediately went out of town so have barely used it. My pans (All-clad D5s) do hum a little, but it did not seem to be an issue. I did get and install the FDW100 dishwasher. I ran it three times - one to clear it out and twice with dishes. Maybe also a quick wash before I left. It is considerably louder than my old Bosch. It cleaned well - maybe slightly less than the Bosch, but the dishes were wetter when the cycle was finished. I never used heated dry and don't think it was an option on either. The plastic was always wet with the Bosch, but even glass seems wet with this. I added a little rinse aid and it seems to help. I am concerned with the buttons on the dishwasher. I have had some trouble getting them to work and they look like they will break easily. My biggest concern is that I wrote to Viking a full week ago but have not yet received a response. I installed the dishwasher myself and the trim that goes between the cupboard and dishwasher was twisted so it did not stick. I also was unsure of how to remove some of the oven racks. Actually, I think it looks like they should remove easily, but I have yanked on them without any luck and I wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything. I got an instant "we received your e-mail", but no answers. That looks like pretty bad customer service to me....See MoreDishwasher additives any good?
Comments (3)Rinse aid isn't much related to cleaning. It's injected (only a tiny amount) into the final rinse and serves to break the surface tension of the water so it'll run off the dishes more readily for drying and not form spots. Many current dishwasher models no longer have a heated dry period, relying on residual heat from the final rinse to assist with the drying/evaporation process. They typically *require* rinse aid for best drying performance. I always use rinse aid, keep the dispenser filled....See Moreviking intelliwash dishwasher?
Comments (19)i do appreciate ALL of the replies, and I don't like unecessary conflict in online forums, but I really did start this thread asking for input from anyone who actually owns a viking dishwasher. I know about the problems with the fridges and gas stoves. Thats not what I'm buying. I know that there are good models of every appliance as well as bad models from the same manufacturer. I have had some really good lower end appliances as well as some really bad ones. I have had two no good dishwashers for the past two times I've purchased. The frigidaire that I have now is the absolute worst ever. My kenmore stove is no good either. Now, my maytag washer and dryer can't be beat. it is our second set in more than 25 years. The first set lasted for 23 years. My new set is two years old now. I do realize that people don't usually post in these forums unless there is a problem, but if anyone out there has a good experience with a viking dishwasher, I'd love to hear from you as well as anyone who owns one that has had problems. I want to know what kind of problems it is....See Morehezzap
