Has anyone heard of J-Mark Cabinets?
Comments (14)These cabinets are garbage. I work for a local Kitchen and Bath store, for about 4 years now. We have been selling these for about 3 years. We receive them from a distributor in Ohio flat-packed and I personally assemble them in my warehouse. I can count on one hand how many orders we have received that went together without a problem. The hardware (i.e. the clips and brackets and screws that are used to hole the cabinets together) are very cheap and break apart very easily. The mill work also leaves much to be desired. Before going with these cabinets I would take a look at Koch cabinetry out of Kansas, they also offer a mid-grade line of cabinets "Koch Express". Or if that is still out of your price range, take a look at JSI cabinets. Chinese, unfortunately, but similar pricing to J Mark and go together MUCH easier. You could also save a pretty penny by having them shipped flat to your home and having your contractor or yourself assemble them on site....See MoreHas anyone bought cabinets off Ebay - NEW
Comments (41)The JSI factory is in Fall River MA. The address is: 485 Commerce Drive, Fall River, MA 02720 All of the displays are there and the cabinets are really lovely. However, they don't have full-extension drawers and only self-close not soft close. The drawers close hard/load. I was working with Stacey at Woodlist.com. He got me an appointment to see them. Their site also has a good list of the cabinets and trims available with sketches. The price point is higher than Nieghbors, but Stacey said that was flexible. Their link is below. I also went and saw the Kabinart cabinets that are available from mfkusa.com. They are great! There are lots of choices in doors, colors, cabinets and trim. The construction is top notch. The price is comparable to the JSI line. Has any one used the Kraftmaid cabinet buyer that goes to the warehouse for you? Here is a link that might be useful: Woodlist cabinets...See MoreAnyone familiar with Aristokraft cabinets?
Comments (7)We had Aristrokraft cabinets in our old kitchen and they were, to put it nicely, designed to fail (i.e., pieces of c**p). Let me say right now, though, that our cabinets were most likely "builder grade." However, in a thread a few months ago others, who had "better" Aristrokraft cabinets, also weren't too happy with them. Oh, and like others said, no upgrades were available (I asked!) In our kitchen, drawers started failing (twisting, hard to open/close, out of alignment) after only 4 or 5 years, the sink fronts started falling off and the finish started failing around the same time (we had a painted finish), the shelves were very thin and bowed easily (no amount of turning over helped). The edges were all very sharp...I was constantly scraping my fingers whenever I brushed a shelf or cabinet side, including getting things out of the back of drawers (only 3/4 extension). Some of the hinges had to be replaced about 7 years in and the insides started peeling. The only thing that didn't fail was the lazy susan...it was still stable, and going strong when we demolished the kitchen...go figure! Back when Consumer Reports rated cabinets, Aristrokraft were dead last. There's a reason they were "one of the better quotes"...you get what you pay for. We made do with those cabinets for 12 years, but the last 5 or 6 years I was embarrassed to have anyone see them. I was so happy the day they were taken out!!!! Sorry to be so harsh about them...but they were awful and I'd hate for anyone else to end up with them w/o being forewarned! Here's a picture of our "before" kitchen...the cabinets look better in the picture than they did in person, believe me! (You can see the painted finish wearing off at the sink, the misaligned drawer b/w the sink & range & in front of the sink, etc. The drawer you can't see in this picture was even worse!)...See MoreAnyone purchase Martha Stewart cabinets?
Comments (30)Have purchased these cabinets for a flip we were doing and everything came delivered intact and ready to be installed. On this basis we purchased cabinets for our own kitchen remodel. What a mistake! Delivery was scheduled for a Thursday so my husband took off work to accept the delivery. At 4 o'clock we were told the delivery couldn't take place that day and wouldn't come until the following Monday. Our cabinets were delivered with 3 cabinets having shoddy workmanship (door fronts off, a blue flaw down the face of one, the wine rack with exposed staples). The corner base cabinet was one of them so we were unable to proceed with the remodel. We dealt with no kitchen sink for 3 weeks. The replacement cabinets have arrived and they are also damaged (again the base corner cabinet). Waiting to hear what Martha Stewart will do to rectify this frustrating situation. Look elsewhere for cabinets, I wish we had. (Home Depot has been very responsive to our concerns but they should consider no longer offering these products)...See MoreKatie
