On the side wall by the vanity I would use a recessed medicine cabinet or a recessed niche for your toiletries that are on the counter to clear the clutter. Or replace the vanity mirror with a triple door mirrored medicine cabinet.

If you must have a magazine holder, I would use an over the tank magazine holder or get a slimmer floor model and get rid of the large wooden one.

I would get a larger closed cabinet for over the john to hide its contents, with maybe a glass shelf under it.

Some nice art work in place of those three lanterns and a decorative wastepaper basket.

I would replace the pulls and knobs on the vanity with sleek, streamlined new ones in a tone to match the faucet. Is a new vanity top in the budget?

I like green, too. How about a deep, though subdued, green for new rugs and towels? This sage would work well with silvery gray walls.

Multiple random thoughts:

- I like the wood tone you have, and I agree that you should keep it AND the blinds ... they match.

- With this wood tone, I'd throw out grey completely. They won't be friends. Greens, though, yes to greens! I'd go with green walls, green bathmats ... and I'd choose something brighter /more colorful than the word-art. I'd lean towards something sage-y green.

- With green walls, you could keep the white tile and the white countertop. They appear to be in good condition.

- What I don't like in this room: The light fixture. The room isn't large, and you have four bulbs ... which are amplified by the mirror. It's rather overwhelming -- it was literally the first thing to which my eye was drawn.

- I'd lose those little lanterns.

- The toilet area seems to be extra-wide, which isn't bad, but right now it looks kind of odd. I think the color /paint will help this area.

- Do you have light in the toilet area? If not, I'd put in a simple one-bulb fixture over this area.

- I'd put in some wall-to-wall shelves ... make them match the wood tone you already have --- this would be loads of storage, which you say you need ... I'd use baskets to hold ugly things such as extra toilet paper and feminine supplies. I also like the idea of artwork in this area. You have so much space here, and it needs filling.

I like the pulls! They have personality! How about spray painting them silver to match the faucet and light fixture? Painting would also make them stand out from the wood.

The present peach paint is nice but maybe too feminine for a couple’s bathroom. I think a medium gray would work but do try a few samples as the wrong gray (blue undertones) would be awful. And when I say try, I mean buy the $2 containers and try a few. A paper swatch is not enough.

On the first pic posted, where the two pictures are hung, there is enough room to put a recessed med cabinet.

as to storage around toilet, I always worry about people bumping their heads and stuff on shelves could fall in the toilet. Short of it: no storage, just nice big art in the back wall
