Right now I'm having amnesia and deja vu at the same time -- I think I've forgotten this before.

Canada stopped having any connection with common cents about 15 or 20 years ago. Now, if your store bill ends at 87 cents, they "round down" and you pay 85 ... or if it's 88 cents, they "round up" to 90 cents. olee joyful ... whose ancient, self-willed finger "popped down" twice

I remember that movie - Soylent Green!! Last time I remembered it was in a convo with my vegetarian sis & talking about soy. I mentioned this movie & she screeched at me the same thing that @dedtired said ”Soylent Green is People!”….. so funny at the time & after too many glasses of wine….

Nicole, my DH is always complaining about that! Of course, it would help if he didn’t have the habit of rushing off before I’ve actually finished the conversation, and if he would get his hearing checked and do something about his increasing deafness. (😠)

Amazing Aunt Audrey - that is really funny, such a simple thought and yet so funny.

I DO NOT want to start an argument on something I enjoy (Smiles For Today). I, myself would never kneel when the anthem is played, BUT I will support until my dying breath the right of ANYONE to protest in anyway they see fit as long as they do not hurt anyone or destroy anything. This, (taking a knee) (which is supported by vets), meets that. There is NO way I will boycott Nike.

I am a product of the 60's and 70's and I firmly believe in PEACEFUL protest. Not arguing, not my way over all, but a PEACEFUL exchange of ideas.

I've always found the practice of starting various civilian activities with the National Anthem or Pledge of Allegiance to be somewhat puzzling and (for me) unnecessary. Nothing similar is done in other countries, other than sports events when one country's team competes against another (as teams, not just individuals).

Doing away with the National Anthem at the start of domestic sports events solves the problem. I have no issue with the knee matter, for whatever statement or gripe someone wishes to make.

This thread is sacrosanct. Take it somewhere else!

These smiles threads are meant to be a respite from all the contention that is easily found on other threads. I would prefer that we keep it to generating smiles. If some joke or post is something you have a problem with or you don't find funny, then please just skip on by...maybe it will bring a smile to someone else.

If you know in advance that someone may take offense at a post, then maybe choose something different to post here and post the other one on a more appropriate thread.

The Nike joke was clever even if you disagree with the sentiment, IMHO.

I know I depend on a little silliness and a laugh every day from here. And some days boy it sure is needed!

Thanks for the laughs!
