anyone have room for a 25 ft ficus tree inside?
Comments (0)It is not mine. but posted in freecycle in annapoils is: " Re-Offer 20 ' - 25' Ficus tree and extra pot (Mayo) This is a very large tree. It is beautiful but very big. It is 20 feet to 25 feet tall and approx. 10 feet to 15 feet across. The pot it is in is 2 feet to 3 feet high and 2 feet to 3 feet wide, it is plastic but looks like terra cotta. I also have another pot with soil in it. It's the same size as the one with the tree in it. It would make a great pot for the yard. You will need help to move this. I think 2 strong people can move it but 3 people would be better. You will need a hand cart and a pick up truck. No station wagon or SUV will work. I need this tree gone by the 31st of May. My friend is moving and it needs to be gone. I don't want to kill this tree. Please Please won't some one give this tree a new home. Don't forget, you will need ceiling space for this tree. Thanks for your interest Christie" My stepfather was actually going to get it for his house but was overwhelmed with the massive size of it. I know it would fit but not the way he has in mind I suspose. It is horrible because I asked her to hold it of him and assured her it would go to a good home. I feel so bad. I thought perhapes someone here would be inclined to rescue or at least foster it. Also when he wne to look at it he said that you woudl definately ned 3 people probably more. I don't want this thing to die! -Annette...See MorePlumbing Work = Two Less Ficus Trees + Space for a Rambler?
Comments (17)Jay, Clair Matin is a wonderful rose, I have two. My favorite which is noisette, but would work in your area is Crepuscule - peach ice cream color and blooms all the time. I had one that arched and draped itself over a fence and it was fabulous - unfortunately, painters bent it over to paint the fence, broke it off......but I plan to plant another. This rose is really fabulous! Color would look good against the white building. I am tempted to try the new David Austin recurrent blooming Albrighton Rambler. Might be fun to see how this one does. I have Mel's Heritage and like it a lot - blooms aren't huge for me though. Kim is right about Vielchenblau - absolutely breathtaking when it is big and in full bloom - unfortunately, only a once bloomer. Also - what about Alchemist? This is a gorgeous peach color and one I intend to try. I saw a Mutablis made into a climber and it was just beautiful - intend to try this one day. You have lots of choices! Comments (1)Generally speaking, humidity trays are poor sources of humidity/moisture, but what you CAN do is build a humidity tray with higher sides. Find a container your plant fits inside of easily, the sides of which aren't going to block light from foliage. Fill it with gravel or terra cotta pellets, then bring the water level even to the top of the balls. You might even incorporate some objects you can set the pot on so there is no way the water in the humidity tray can 'find' a pathway into the soil. Flat humidity trays don't cut it, but if all you have is a single plant, what I described will work very well. Clean the rocks and tray weekly with a bleach stir and rinse to prevent a lot of fungulugly activity in the tray over time. Good luck - the high sides that don't block light to the leaves are the trick, so a bigger tray is a better tray. Al...See MoreOak tree and Strangler Fig (Ficus) branches are coming together
Comments (13)OK, I had a tree company come by and did some trimming. There were three places the two trees are growing together and they did the separation. Like I mentioned this is NOT where one branch is resting or leaning on another tree branch. This is one tree branch swallowing or enveloping another tree branch like how a snake would coil around it's prey. They took down three big chunk of branches and the volume of the haul away pile was about 20 cubic yards after the branches were cut into manageable sizes. Even though they were able to separate the two trees, the part where the strangler fig coiled and spread around the oak tree branches they could not take out, except to let it eventually die out on it's own. Here is a picture of one branch of the oak tree, and you can see where the cut was made but the smaller roots of the strangler fig remains on the oak. I have attached the same exact picture right underneath except the remainder of the roots of the strangler fig I traced in red color. Kind of reminded me of the movie Invaders of the Body Snatchers....See MoreUser
