HAVE: Over 400 Varieties of Tomato Seeds
Comments (35)I am wanting to do a trade. I would LOVE to try your: SOLAR FLARE variety and only need about 5 seeds. I have these varieties that I did not notice on your list: Burgess Lemon (only 5 seeds from Wintersown and several years old) Hovarth (only 2 seeds left from Wintersown and several year old) Peacevine Cherry (10 seeds from Kenyon Organics, probably 2 years old) God Love (5 seeds from Kenyon Organics, probably 2 years old) Abe Lincoln (about 10 from Livingston Seed Co, less than year old) San Marzano (about 10 from Organic Ferry-Morse, less that year old) I am rather new to this forum and unsure how to proceed. Is there a way you can message me to exchange addresses? I can send a SASE....See MoreHeart tomatoes & others progress with pictures.
Comments (14)I surprise no one is growing Orange Strawberry. It's heart shape and gave lots of fruit for me last year. **** Lots and lots of folks grow Orange Strawberry, me included. And if you do a search at the bottom of this page for heart shaped varieties you'll find several threads devoted to hearts alone. Orange Strawberry first appeared as a stray seed in a commercial pack of Pineapple seeds as found by Majorie Morris of IN. It's also from Marjorie that I got German Red Strawberry, a family heirloom, and I made both of them avaialable initially by listing them in the SSE YEarbook from whence they got distributed to a lot of retail places. I also send the best of my varieties each year to Sandhill Preservation and TGS, and more of late to Mike at Victory Seeds, but for Glenn at Sandhill and Linda at TGS I've been doing it for many years. And I also have been doing a seed offer each year of varieties new to all or most. Damon is a fellow heart lover, which endears him to my heart shaped heart. LOL Just ask him where he got the seeds for Anna Maria's Heart, Danko and Serdtse Buivola, and some others. LOL Carolyn...See MoreBull Heart or Ox Heart tomatoes
Comments (3)I've tried picking them when pink. Some will still get rotten & stinky. I have four Oxheart plants and four Park Whopper plants. Sunday we picked all the large Oxhearts (over a bushel), wrapped in paper towels and stored. Hopefully some will ripen OK. Had the same problem with last falls crop. Would start to rot on the side. I tried picking when green and washing with a bleach solution. Still had problem. David...See MoreHeart Tomatoes!!!!
Comments (10)Ukrainian Heart (also called Russian Heart), **** I don't think those two are necessarily synonomous. Russian Heart has a different background than does Ukrainian Heart although one of the two folks who list Russian Heart equates it with Ukrainian Heart in the SSE Yearbook/ There are two Ukrainian Hearts that I know of and have grown. One was received by me years ago from Jerry Murphy called the TNMUJ strain and the other one I got from Craig who got it from Tania O'Neill of Phildelphia called the O'Neill strain. Jerry Murphy did contact me last year after a long absence and I do think I remember him saying that he originally called it Russian Heart before changing the name to Ukrainian Heart to more accurately reflect the origin of the variety. Whatever! LOL They are all excellent IMO. I'm a devoted fan of heart shaped varieties b'c I think they have some of the best tastes around and I'd like to see you try some of the following: Danko, red Anna Maria's Heart, pink Wes, red Tsar-Kolokol, pink Tidwell German, pink Yasha Yugoslavian, pink Nicky Crain, pink Orange Strawberry Brad's Black Heart ....for starters off the top of my head.
