I just noticed that PC Richards also sells the Electrolux EFLS2100. Anyone also have feedback on that?

I also put a suggestion in aw.org about not using the max/highest spin speed. I use the next to highest spin speed. Just seems to put less stress on the machine. Also suggested using powdered detergent rather than liquids.

Reviews are very hard to find, and many don't even mention some of the available options. I just bought a Gorenje, but I've had it just a few weeks so I don't know how much I like it yet. I'll be following this thread with interest. (I replaced an 11.5 year old LG, and the only reason I didn't go LG again was because they don't have a vented compact dryer.)

I used to have a compact Electrolux and it was amazing. Had I not moved and needed a larger set I would still have them. I now have a full size Electrolux. They cleaned very well and didn’t have the price tag of a Miele.

I have the W7443L washer, and the D722CM dryer. They only had one model of each available - they are just newly available in Canada. I didn't go shopping with the intention of buying them (hadn't even heard of them), but I liked what I saw and heard in the store.

Miele is, in my experience, top quality. I chose it over all options and would recommend it highly. Richards carries Miele. It'll be the longest lasting washer you ever own. Link.

If Miele is out of budget, LG makes a solid little machine with good reviews. I bought it for my nephew & wife as a new baby gift and they can’t stop raving. Dryer, IIRC, is a condenser. They didn’t have space for a dryer so we didn’t buy it.

I have the GE WCVH4800K2WW washer & DCVH480EK0WW dryer compact stack. They were purchased in February of 2017. I've had no problem with them and am very satisfied. I suppose you would not want to replace your set with another GE set.

Cannot speak to longevity as it varies so much it doesn't seem to matter which brand anyone buys.

The one thing I will say is: if you are going with a front loader it is dysfunctional to buy one without an internal heater that will give you a true hot wash. I would check the stats on GE and Whirlpool.

Bosch, Asko and Elux do have internal heaters. But again, check specs for each machine carefully. Also look for Allergen cycle as this will guarantee a 130F wash.

I have owned Miele, Bosch and Asko compact sets. I would stay away from Asko as I don't feel the cost is warranted, the water level is very low and while it was great on very hot washes it was lacking on delicates and the less robust cycles. I need those for exercise clothes with elasticizers and for athleisure garments which are synthetic. I do a lot of "light soil poly" loads.

Currently, I have a Bosch 500 set. Very happy with them. I do about 6 loads per week, sometime more. I have the condenser dryer -- also happy with that. They are stacked in a laundry closet. The only caveat is that the door needs to be open while the dryer is running. They are very quiet.

Others are happy with Electrolux. Miele is a heavy duty machine and wonderful but there is definitely a premium in terms of cost. One strategy is to go with Miele, pay the price and figure on many years. The other strategy is to go with something like Elux and then if you need to replace in even 8 years the two sets are still less than the single Miele set. I would have gone with Elux but I needed a washer than plugged into the dryer due to the set up I had so Bosch it was. Loved my Miele but, practically speaking, Bosch does the job.

Roc, both the WP & GE have heaters. That was the first thing I looked for prior to recommending any here or on AW.org.

Weren't there some issues with the Electrolux touchpads?

All issues need to be checked out through the specs and the online reviews. It's a huge amount of work then you make the best educated guess for yourself. No "one true machine" here. And many will buy strictly on price -- with these market conditions a strong argument can be made for that.

I looked into the Miele several ago (eventually decided to buy the GE - which just broke 5 years later last week). I thought at the time the reviews were saying that in recent years, the quality and longevity of Miele washer had really gone down, and therefore was not worth the price tag anymore.

Can anyone comment on that?

People have said that but it's difficult. Miele is a much heavier duty machine than any other. It's another level of washing machine that does everything perfectly from cashmere sweaters to down pillows. They design for durability and longevity but that does not mean nothing can go wrong. Where I live, Miele has superior service. They have excellent warranty plans that are not overly expensive and can be purchased at a discount in December. But Miele service is not everywhere. And if you aren't getting the factory direct service then it's a problem because it is based on their laptops which have diagnostics. IOW non Miele service is useless. Arguably, their Little Giant is the best f/l on the market. It does things no other front loader does.

Having had multiple Miele appliances I can highly recommend them. They are a family run company and they really are focused on quality. I do feel the value is there. But everyone has different views. Depends on your needs, budget etc.

There are no guarantees with any brand.

The current Miele 24" units are as good as you can get. They made some larger US only models at one time. I believe the 3000 series. They weren't as well regarded. I didn't buy one. I still have an older 220v 24" model. No reason to replace it.
