So I brought a root cutting of what’s known as ‘asmini’ in Tanzania to the U.S. in my carryon luggage. I transported the cutting in a water bottle with the roots covered with moist cotton wool. By the time I got home almost 24h later, the leaves had obiously all wilted. I removed the the root cutting from the moist cotton wool and placed in in a bowl of water. The next day I transplanted the cutting to a pot with potting mix. Being that this undertaking took considerable effort, I have been preoccupied since wondering if the plant is still alive or dead or what I can do to increase its odds for survival or when I can expect to see some signs of life. Two stems are green, which I am presuming is a sign of life. I’ve tried looking for the species within the US but can’t seem to be able to tell from pictures available. If all fails maybe someone can assist with identification and point me in the right direction for what the name would be locally...
