When I went to Miele cooking demonstration at the NE regional office, they said Miele increase was due Feb. 1. AJ Madison will allow you to order now and they will not charge your chargecard until it ships, which I plan on doing in March. This will hold the lower price, according to the sales rep I am dealing with. By the way, if you work with a sales rep, you get better pricing (Miele only has latitude of about $50 on each piece but if you are buying any other appliances, sinks, faucets, etc. they will give you a better price than on the website). The rep I am dealing with is Jonathan Gold 800-570-3355 x106 and he has given me some competitive pricing. He has been helpful so far but I haven't taking any deliveries yet so I will reserve my recommendations until I've experienced a completed transaction. My first will be Monday, Jan 4th on the Liebherr refrigerator - will let you know if it goes smoothly. The steam oven appealed to me from the get go because I have a strong bent towards healthy food preparation. I am trying to vear away from microwaving leftovers as it kills any living enzymes in the food. It took me some time to see this oven as more than an oversized vegetable steamer but I think I will get more use out of it with steaming fish, reheating leftover and preparing other dinners- it can do everything but brown. I am looking at some covered pans that will slide in the oven as one owner said she went through quite bit of aluminum foil in covering her food (so the steam wouldn't make the meal soggy). I will post what I find out. To get the steam oven, I am going with a single Miele Masterchef (vs. a Double Masterchef). I still am not sure if I will miss the double oven scenario I have now, but the rep said what I cook in two of my ovens (which are 26 inch width and not convection), I could do in on 30 inch Miele. The only time I really need the double ovens are the holidays. Did you trade off a second convection oven for the steam oven? What were your thoughts in this decision. I think I am also going to choose the Miele induction,as well as the Miele optima dishwasher. I would be interested in what you decided for your other appliances.

@ jsfox Don't rely on your dealer, please contact Miele directly and explain the situation to them. If these series of problems started when you were under the 1 year warranty, and those problems persisted, then I don't see why a call to Miele can't fix this quickly and with far less hassle with your dealer. Also, you should never purchase an extended warranty from a 3rd party unless that 3rd party is authorized by Miele. Simply having your units installed by authorized Miele installers give you an automatic 2 year warranty (1 year extension on factory warranty). If that's the case here, you may have an additional year that you're not aware of. As far as Miele is concerned, you should be contacting them directly for replacements. The 12-day turnaround on your repair is more due to your dealer and their "extended warranty" than Miele. I've had Miele come out once for my dishwasher while it was under warranty and had the service completed within 48 hours. The service appointment was scheduled directly through Miele.

The Miele extended warranty for their washing machine ($319 on the Miele site) is somewhat ambiguous in its phrasing : “This Service Agreement shall commence immediately upon expiration of the shortest portion of the manufacturer's original written warranty. If for example, the manufacturer provides a split warranty coverage program wherein the term durations are unequal for parts and labor (e.g., three months of labor and twelve months of parts coverage), and You have purchased a 12 month (365 days) extended service agreement, this plan shall commence on day 91 when the shortest portion of the manufacturer's warranty ends and will provide labor coverage through day 455. Both parts and labor coverage under this Service Agreement shall expire at the end of day 455.” what I can’t quite figure out is what happens when you have your washer installed by an authorized Miele installer. The original warranty from Miele is 1 year. Having it installed by the authorized installer adds another year to the warranty. So will the five year extended warranty give you a total of 6 years of coverage or 7?
