Bottom Freezers...Do You Have a 2nd Fridge or Freezer?
Comments (9)If you read the specs the s x s do have more freezer space. I was set on buying CD FD until I started to do the research. I love how the FD refs. look but, for us, the s x s seems to make more sense. Guess it depends on your family. We are 2 seniors so don't need freezer space to fit pizza boxes (we make our own pizza). We shop for fresh fruits and vegs. several times a week. So we don't need the bigger space of the fresh food part of the ref. When we both worked we shopped once a week. When we were first married had a top freezer ref. and I hated trying to find things up there. FD is same, just freezer on bottom instead of top. So my advice is to take a look at your family composition, your shopping habits, and then get what you feel works best for your family. Like I said, I think the FD is better looking but s x s works best for us! Good luck!!...See MoreDo you like your single door bottom freezer fridge?
Comments (22)Nope. There just isn't enough freezer space. UGH!! With the pull-out basket, you really lose a lot of space as compared to the old, freezer-on-top, shelf but no pull-out style. Granted, you have to have a pull-out with a bottom freezer (a shelf wouldn't work well), but, it's such a waste of space. If I had a separate freezer elsewhere in the house, I wouldn't mind so much, but as it is, I feel *very* limited in how much freezer space I have -- and that's for just one or two people. If I had to feed a whole family with such a small freezer, I'd really find it difficult -- unless we ate out a whole heck of a lot (actually, I'd just HAVE to put in at least a small chest freezer somewhere in the house!). <:>Um, yes, I *do* like to cook. And buy stuff on sale. Hence the need for a decent-sized freezer. ;P So you might want to consider whether the freezer space will be sufficient for you. I didn't realize how much less space I would have, even though I chose the largest fridge/freezer I could -- *and*, it's larger than my old freezer-on-top, yet holds less frozen food. Sigh....See MoreWhat temperature do you set the thermostat for your pet
Comments (28)On June 29, 2012 we had a Derecho blow through. My power was off for 4 days because of the destruction in & around my area. Everyday was in the 90's outside and my house was SO darn hot. Luckilly the basement was cool so the dogs & I lived down there for those 4 days. Although when I left the house, the dogs would still come up to the main level & sleep on the couch, which was their normal routine. Even though it was 92 degrees on that level. They could have went back down to the basement to cool off, but I doubt they did. Moral of the story, they had plenty of water & knew the basement was cooler & a bed was down there if they became too uncomfortable. But I think they toughed it out. Now, under normal circumstances, I don't change my thermostat for the dogs when I leave the house. Since I'm on disability, I'm never gone long enough to gain any financial reward for increasing or decreasing the temperatures by a couple degrees, although I'm sure the dogs could care less either way....See MoreBet my fridge & freezer are cleaner than yours.....
Comments (7)I’ll never forget......I had to go back to hospital on call around 9p. DH & I had made a huge batch of gumbo. He had Bagged ziploc bags of it in freezer. I was so proud of him & had to take a peek!! (Figured I’d come home late & have to put up gumbo & clean kitchen - I was kinda grumpy!!) Open up the freezer & bag on top shelf that had not been closed properly fell out. Gallon of gumbo all down the freezer & floor! Perfect ending to a perfect night!! But my freezer & floors under were spotless!...See More- 8 years ago
