The one in your picture is the only one that I have not repotted and it’s doing well, I have had it for about a year.

I have noticed that it does stay wet longer than the other ones that I did repot. I am very careful about watering it. It gets watered every two weeks compared to the once to twice a week for the others.

Another thing... someone at the garden center told me not to get hoya leaves wet? Has anyone heard of such a thing? I was buying a H. tricolor, here she is....

Nan, if you can repot EA plants into your own mix, that's ideal. But it is so difficult, because most of them are a crap-load of rooted cuttings and it's really hard to do it without damaging them, setting them into distress. If you leave them in the original soil, they will do well for about 18 months to 2 years. I would grow them in the original soil then in the spring of the following year, I would repot them carefully into your own growing mix. However, before you do this, I would take some cuttings and get them going so that you can replace the plant if necessary. If you need any advice on rooting, just contact me through this site. Denise, thanks for you insight and well wishes for them. I watered the H. carnosa yesterday, and I just checked it, it is extremely wet still... which worries me. Though it may dry faster once acclimated, I don't have it in the brightest sun yet as it has been living in a low light warehouse for who knows how long.

I will make a back-up pot of cuttings, there is one broken H. carnosa strand anyways.

I pretty much repot everything as soon as possible, given the right - or near enough - time of year. I haven't purchased any Hoyas, though, and I root cuttings in a loose mix that falls away from roots without disturbance. My older Hoyas have always been in a bark-based mix, so potting them up is very easy.

Thanks, Josh! Well, I repotted the H. Tricolor Krimson Queen into two containers (sharing with a friend) it went pretty well... used small bark, perlite and pumice. It's getting dark so early, I'll get a pic another day. I agree, there are better times of year to repot things... I learned not to repot a Philodendron during the winter (lost 80%) but thankfully it has grown back since then.

No I don’t transplant my Hoyas in EA pots. Never had a problem with their soil and Hoyas seemed to thrive in it so why fix something if it isn’t broken.
