When we moved I left behind over 30 hosta plants that I had lovingly tendered for over 35 years. My favorites were always the large leafed, ribbed ones in varying shades of deep green and blueish green.

In my new place we have a significant deer problem so I'm slowly introducing them into my yard and spraying them with a deer repellent.

This is not my favorite - but it is doing well in this location. The fellow at my nursery told me that the lighter shades of hosta can take full sun better. I need to cut off those silly looking flowers......they look like antennae

Hummingbirds like hosta flowers, so I'd leave them ;) Looking good!

Don't cut the flowers off until they have died because rob333 is right. Our hummingbirds love our Hosta flowers.

Annie, you are a brave girl! I wouldn't be worried about a sting, but I can't stand having any insect near me, let alone on me!

Rob and Linda - That's Interesting about the hummingbirds. I never saw a hummingbird on my hostas before - and as I mentioned I had at least 30 at the other house and I always left the flowers on them. My side flower bed had trees and I spent years dividing the hostas and planting them until the entire bed was full - hostas, acuba japonica, laurel etc. Maybe they just liked the monarda and butterfly bushes better. But I'll leave them and hope to spot a hummer.

Yes I knew it was a bee...she landed on my shirt and crawled up to my neck by the time I got my phone out to snap the pic. Bees don't bother me, though I'm not a fan of wasps and hate yellow jackets.
