Help! How to make awkward TV wall less awkward.
Comments (28)I would center the TV between the edge of the open door and the thermostat and mount it on the wall. Then I would hang a piece of vertically oriented art (about 20" wide x 36" deep to the left of the TV, centered between it and the closed door. The open door would cover the art, but it wouldn't be open all the time, so that would balance the TV. Alternatively, you could mount a board with some hooks to hang coats, purses, etc. on as you enter the house. I don't see a coat closet, so that would be handy. I also noticed the art on the side wall looks too big for the space. What if you hang it to the left of the front window? The wall looks a little wider there. Then you could get something smaller for where you took it down....See MoreHelp! Need help with Kitchen design...and awkward nook!
Comments (13)removing windows and putting in a door is easier than vice versa. remove the brick, frame out the area for the door, install. if you want to bring up the floor level,(what do you plan on doing w/the fireplace? you would have to redo it and the book cases) for the new floor, they would have to lay joists, sub floor, and flooring to even it out to the other. At this point I would advise you to replace all of that white tile and do the same flooring throughout the first level. can you match the wood you have in the other room? .Oh, demo of all that tile? 1-2 K (can't see how much you have) remove a window and install french doors, about 2-4K. building a banquette? have no idea. 1-2K? new table, custom made cushions, etc. I don't mind the sunken part. I'd do the french doors and close off that other door by the nook. would be cool if you could extend that whole side of the house further out another 6-10 feet. I'd rather do that than raise the floor level. i'd also widen your stair area leading down. on the living side, you could do something like this w/stair sides (little built ins) install a cool beam above it: or move the stairs to one side If you replaced your windows w/doors, you could do one large sofa, and place the two chairs as you come down the stairs. (that's why it might be nice to move the stairs off to one side, gives you a bit more space. or try this layout. you may have enough room to walk behind the other sofa in front of the doors. (if you could bump out that wall another 6' or so, it would be perfect!...See MoreTrying to balance awkward corner after tree removal
Comments (4)I can only think about putting a huge conical or spiral evergreen in a pot on top of the stump. ==>>> in z5 .. it might be hard to overwinter a tree or conifer.. in a pot .. but i dont know WV .... is it the mild z5.. or the mean z5 ... unless the pot is small enough.. over the years.. to dolly into the garage or some such ... i cant tell where the stump is in these pix ... what are the shrubs to the left of the new gate ... you are using a lot of path space ... is there a reason the paths need be so wide??? .. or so formal.. with the wood edging .... you might want to .. in the future.. soften all the straight lines by making it more of a garden path ... rather than a dirt sidewalk ... i dont know.. just thinking about it ... or maybe.. if you have one.. a pic of the garden in full summer growth ... but i digress ... are you sure you wnat to mess with pots???? look into thuja de groots spire.. for inground tall thin evergreen conifers ... you would need to insure single leader .. no snow or ice load issues ... but it could give you the vertical you are looking for ... ken https://duckduckgo.com/?t=ffcm&q=thuja+de+groots+spire&iax=images&ia=images...See MoreRenting and need help designing this awkward wall!
Comments (4)Not enough visual context provided here Stand in front of the TVs and shoot the other direction so we get the gist of your dilemma. Why is the seating not facing the TV? Is that pony wall opposite the seating not wired for TV? LL might reimburse you for doing that. Might be worth it to you anyway to get your space functioning....See Moretunibell
