Is there any way you can move the furniture away from the walls a bit? That will give you more options for curtains and decor!

Would you consider moving the window AC unit to the window on the far left and then centering your sectional with the two windows, and about a foot out from them?

Are you looking for privacy or just decor? Do you want to add color with your window treatments or stick to the neutral palatte already in the room? I would consider moving your sectional away from the wall a bit, and even enough to walk behind if you have the room.

We can move the sectional away from the wall a couple of inches, to get more air flow from the raidiators, but not anywhere beyond that. There is a TV wall about the length of the sectional, directly across from the it and then it opens into the rest of the kitchen area. The AC unit in that window allows the air flow to cool down our entire first floor.

We are looking for some privacy and to make the room more finished.

I would do roman shades

This isn't about your windows, but I wish your carpet had been large enough to go much further than just the sectional, far enough to include the window area. You could then also have a side table with a lamp, which gives a much warmer glow than those horrible overhead lights. You have enough room for curtains which will soften your look. Painting the wooden window surround is a great idea. I would choose cream side panels in a linen-type fabric.

Have you tried placing the TV between the two windows on the a/c wall? It seems a tv flanked by long windows could be a nice focal point, letting in a bit more light.

Room is pretty dark, I would go with both: white panels ( to the ceiling) for softening/decor and blinds for privacy. A/C is eye sore.

Yes, definitely pull the sofa away from the windows on both sides. So pull sofa forward and to the right. Part of the problem might be that the sofa is just too large for your room.

The sectional appears oversized when compare with the windows in your space. By pulling the sectional away the walls you could do drapery panels that better balance the windows. Painting the millwork, a soft white will freshen things up. Consider making your drapery a color to bring in some interest to the space, pull that color through with some accents in pillows or lamps.
