Splendide in full sun
Comments (32)As another year goes by and I have still not acquired a Splendide, I am telling myself to cease and desist with the chasing species down the rabbithole, and just stop being such a cheapskate and cough up the cash for one. Especially since my expensive t.diffusiflorum vanished without trace. Thalictrums are generally easy from seed (my downfall) so although no Splendide, I do have rochbruneanium, pubescens and reniforme growing away this season, as well as more seedlings of my only alternate to White Splendide, t,delavayii album. I love this genus. A lot....See MoreIs "Purplelicious" a new(er) variety of Thalictrum?
Comments (19)'brother', when "Splendide" is on its game it is a showstopper. Two years in a row it looked like that picture above and then for the last two summers it was not (nearly) as floriferous :(. It is a hardy plant but it seems to need just the right conditions to do extra well. So far with all this rain it seems to be doing really well...I have my fingers crossed). (Just curious where you got your "Splendide" this spring...it isnt the easiest to source)....See MoreSplendide
Comments (18)Absolutely one of my top plant families Me too Campanula. You and I have more and more in common ;). Campanula, whenever I google Splendide "White" one invariably gets uk nurseries..so easie peasie for you. And I actually 'spoke' with a nursery in our Nova Scotia that shows it in its on-line catalogue! a rarity which is making me nervous - the large flowered thalictrum diffusiiflorum I had never heard of this one till you mentioned it! Those are big flowers. Have you seen a full size specimen in person? And why nervous Campanula? I know you can handle it ;)...See MoreThalictrum Splendide
Comments (15)sherrygirl -- You might try asking your local nursery to get this plant (and let you know if/when they do!).. Oft-times, I have been lucky that MY local nursery will do this -- I wanted Evolvulus for its gorgeous blue color, but no one offered it here. So I asked, and the nursery owner did get it in, AND sold out of it, so she offers it every year now. ( I can overwinter it, but always buy fresh ones, also.) Now, back to the OP -- once again, rouge has filled me with thalictrum-envy. Mine still do not perform as "splendidly" (hah! notice my pun...) as hers does, but I live in hope. I did buy several Thalictrum 'Splendide' plants this year, from Digging Dog Nursery online. They sent very good-sized plants, and maybe next year, or the one after, I will have some gorgeousness of my own. Yay!...See MoreGardenHo_MI_Z5
