bathroom mirrored wall- has anyone got a photo?
Comments (7)Ours is not finished but we did that in our master and the lights are installed into the mirror. Similar to Budge but contemporary. I love it but I also wanted to see the reflection of the open shower room that takes up the whole half of the bath opposite the mirror. I could look at the combination of marble and glass tile all day! I have dreamed of this natural light drenched bathroom for years while showering in a small dark dingy shower stall and I love seeing it all. I almost let myself be talked out of the cream colored tumbled Botticino marble I have coveted for years. So glad I didn't - even though I had to pick through 800 sq feet myself to get the right tiles for the floor - as I just love everything about it! Anyway, I digress ;-) Our look is somewhat contemporary and clean so there isn't a lot of visual clutter to begin with. The mirror installer used some kind of glass drill type tool to make the holes for the lights. I think it is one of those personal preference things - if you love the look you will be happy with it....See MoreHas anyone used porcelain wood tile on bathroom walls?
Comments (15)OK, I've reread all(I think) of your posts now and I see your point about the wainscotting not really being truly visible in such a small space. You have options, but I really think the wood plank is not the way you should go, it is very far from what was your original inspiration. I am not sure it will make you happy. I think I would do the wainscotting, scaled down to fit the space. Layout/draw specifically the layout for each wall segment, the 36' toilet wall, the long wall next to the toilet, the sink wall. This is homework that will make the difference. The marble inset band needs to be fairly wide, maybe 6", it would be just at the level of the sinktop. Carry the marble band around the pony wall endcap, you could continue it around the shower, but I think you said you didnt want to. Top the pony wall with a marble sill. My only doubt in the cohesiveness, the peacefulness of this plan, is the two cabinets you want to put over the toilet(assuming I am remembering that correctly), I think they will make it heavy. So I would want to hold off on those until the space is complete and then decide. I think a chrome(I am assuming your finish is chrome) train shelf might be better to hold towels, yes it will not provide as much storage but perhaps it could do. I think this gives you the classic look you were inspired by....See MoreMirror entire upper wall in bathroom with mirror and lighting on top?
Comments (3)Yea to your remodel! And, yes, mirrors are never out of date. The key is installation particularly transitions from mirror to adjacent surfaces. As to what height to end the tile, a good 9-11" (44"-35") above the vanity is about right in my opinion. The biggest problem with mirrors is the splashing of water from working at your sink so the 10" "backsplash" is appropriate - don't want to have to constantly clean those mirrors....See MoreLet's get real. Comments (17)This post is timely for me because we've been talking about updating the kids' bathroom. We have a full length builder grade mirror now and that thing is always a mess! I don't know exactly what my kids do in there, but there are always splash marks and dried toothpaste on it. They have electric toothbrushes and those spray more than the standard/manual ones, but I think my teenagers are just messy. Good thing to know about the vanity height as well. My kids are 5'6" and 5'9" so they have to bend over quite a bit to wash their faces and we have the builder grade round bowl. I was considering just having the original vanity painted but will now get a new one so I can add some height....See Moretrescool
