Regret corner pull-out cabinet?
Comments (0)I have sinned and now regret it!!! I did not listen to the "all drawers" advise from the GW! Instead, we installed a 49" Ikea pull out cabinet in one of the corners... Our thinking was that we will save the few inches because it does not require a filler, and that it will hold a lot of stuff. I am not that convinced that it holds more than a 24" drawer cabinet... I am undecided between living with it or pay the extra money to have it replaced... I am hoping I will get used to it... Granite has not been installed yet... Anybody else has a corner cabinet and hates it/ got used to it??? Than you very much!...See MoreKitchen Cabinet Molding - weird corner.
Comments (4)brickeyee - Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately the layout changed because of the poorly finished materials (KM cabinets). The molding would have fit fine without the end panels. I guess this is something to take into consideration when planning the layout. Don't fill in every inch but leave breathing space just in case. I hope I get use to it! Or it will drive me crazy. Comments (2)depends on what you mean by the back set moving forward. In one version of the MC, (I forget if it is MC I or MCII) the front set of baskets moves forward (out of the cabinet) and to the side automatically when you open the door, because it is attached to the door. In the other version, which I have, you open the door and then manually pull the front set of baskets forward and to the side. IN both ersions, when the front set is pulled forward out of the cabinet, the back set is pulled to the side, so that it now sits where the front set used to --in other words just inside the cabinet behind the open door. If that's what you mean by pulling it forward, yes, it should do that. In neither version, however, does the back set automatically pull out of the cabinet. You need to do that manually....See Moreebean, tell me about your blind corner pull-out
Comments (5)we looked at 3 blind corner cabinets. the most expensive was the richelieu - but it was really amazing. i think others have that one. i went with the full shelf medallion (our cabinets are medallion and i figured that they would be around if it needed fixing). yes...the 2 'back' shelves basically slide back into the blind corner. there are pros and cons to these systems. pros: you don't have to get down on your hands and knees and put your head into the corner of a tight dark corner cabinet. cons: the mechanics take up a lot of space - so measure each shelf and make sure it will fit enough 'stuff'. i insisted on a pull out that had a 'rail' around it ...so that stuff doesn't fall off. but as you can see...my big bowls fit on one shelf and not much more. i was excited to see it was a good place to store my big jug of olive oil. some of them have triangular shelves or pod-shaped shelves. my advice? get the biggest full shelf with a rail that you can find. some of them attach to the door of the cabinet. this one works really well - the medallion. the installed tweaked it a little ...and then it was perfect. we bundled the price into the total package for our kitchen cabinets and so i think we got a little discount overall. and for those not seeing the other post: From Kitchen Reno From Kitchen Reno...See MoreAnnKH
