Hanging curtains on a window that butts against a wall or closet

Looking for advice on how to hang curtains when the window butts against a wall, since there's really only space for the curtains to hang on one side of the window. Thoughts?

That way the whole window gets covered without having to take up space for the curtain rods.

I have seen this in other places.....get a decorative rod with finials. On the window like you have, leave the finial off the end of the rod next to the corner wall. Drapes/curtains will fit on the rod right to the wall...no gap. If you use grommet drapes, you can pull them either way...to the wall side, to either side or to the side away from the wall.

I had this problem in the bedroom but I rarely open these curtains. I did not use a finial to the right of one window that was 2" from the wall, on the other side I had 2 windows that met each other in the corner so I used a corner connector. They look great to me.

Actually had two shower curtains on my alcove shower. One was a fixed shower curtain that was hung on an exterior rod from wall to wall. It had a valance and two fixed panels, one on either side. Then, I had another shower curtain. This was a plain white cloth curtain that was on the rod. It was on rings that also included a plastic curtain for water protection. So....two rods. An exterior one. That was covering my end walls/tiles. Then, a regular bath rod that held both a fabric outer curtain and a plastic one. We no longer have this system or I would post a photo. But, yes...it can be done!

Wow! Thank you. I was afraid the two different heights would look weird. But it doesn’t the way you did that. Also, I was thinking I would not like white curtains because I was concerned it would look too stark… but I think maybe white would work. Thanks again!

Thanks, Beverly! This is more of what I was looking to do as the room needs color and texture. Wasn't sure how much of that was doing to be achieved with a roman shade.
