Cabinets for good air quality
Comments (10)Thank you for considering Signature. I work for the company and we'd be thrilled to have you visit us and see how we build our cabinetry and show you all the ways our products are green. We'd be happy to show you through our facility where you can see how we build our cabinetry and we can also spend time in the display area and answer any questions you might have... and yes our shelves are plywood! Just give us a call and we'd be happy to accomodate you anyway we can! 717-738-4884 You can also check out a special 'invitation only' website www.signaturecab.com/considersignature...See MoreOld fashioned good quality or Up to date lesser quality?
Comments (29)As hubby, tongue-in-cheek, likes to say about me, "there's nothing too good or too cheap for her". It really depends on the WHAT! Before we spend on a product, service or an experience, we like to consider what will we gain by making the spending decision. We like to be well-informed consumers (especially when something is a large amount of money) and will choose from both categories - old and new. I wonder if this is a right-brain / left-brain question ;?) I'm more of a logical thinker than emotional, so that accounts for many of my choices. I couldn't care less if someone sees me in a $2 (on sale) white T-shirt from Wal-Mart worn for working out (I even have some I bought for $1 at Wal-Mart). A $300 work-out outfit doesn't make me sweat any less or perform any better. While I'll spend a LOT for SmartWool athletic socks which feel better and out-wear cheap cotton socks any day, and I buy quality shoes for working out, and for everyday use. We had a lovely antique bedroom suite, but we got tired of the upkeep, drawers that stick, and the size of it, so we donated it to a Hospice auction. Replaced it with minimalist furniture we purchased from Aldi at a fraction of the price they were selling the same stuff for at the expensive furniture store down the street. -Grainlady...See MoreNeed options for good quality, mid-range cabinet brands
Comments (47)@Wes Hunt I believe Shiloh does an industry-standard post-catalyzed conversion varnish, so hopefully the finish will be more durable for you than Kemp would have been. As I'm sure you're aware, there are several different levels of pricing within the lines offered by W. W. Wood Products, Inc., Shiloh's parent company. Shiloh for some reason hasn't amassed many reviews around the web at the time of this writing outside of those on Houzz, but there are several threads here at Houzz that do discuss Shiloh's offerings and warranty fulfillment in depth. One of the things I've noticed is that people who went with the less expensive lines wished they had upgraded to the top Shiloh offering, and for people who did receive defective pieces, it was sometimes an issue getting satisfactory warranty service. If you are working with a reputable sales rep, hopefully they would take care of any issues you had promptly. Plenty of people have been very pleased with their Shiloh cabinetry. The tolerances on Shiloh's inset styles aren't as tight as you'd see from more expensive brands like Christopher Peacock or Kennebec according to some reviewers familiar with a wide range of brands, but for many people who want to save and yet still want that inset look, Shiloh does just fine for them. Of course, as you're aware, inset is not the only style Shiloh offers. I hope your project goes smoothly. Thanks for allowing the Houzz community to have input into your research process....See MoreKitchen cabinets - hardwood vs. plywood
Comments (1)No one makes cabinets out of all solid wood. Even 100 years ago they gave that up. That stuff isn’t stable. Twisted piles of junk is the result. Plywood isn’t even as stable as furniture board. It’s why it’s the preferred choose for casework carcasses. And MDF for many of the other components. A great furniture board box, with frameless construction, and veneer over MDF doors is how some of the best snd most expensive European cabinets in the world are built. “Solid wood” is BS marketing by the import RTA bunch. Because that’s all they’ve got to market to. Bad quality wood is worse than good furniture board, all day and every day,...See MoreUser
