need help to ID plants... newbie to begonias
Comments (14)The one I showed above was bought at Harmony Foliage with Mr. Begonia (last year's ABS president) telling me the names as I was labeling everything. What can I say? I just go with the flow... That seems to be the problem with names in begonias (and everything else) - someone drops a tag and sticks it in another pot or you can't read someone's writing or everything is labeled rex begonia. If only someone would come out with a definitive book on (fill in the blanks here) Check out the international database of begonias for Muddy Waters. Ignore the 3rd photo since it is the one I just posted above. Begonia IDB of Muddy Waters...See MoreNeed help with tuberous begonia ID
Comments (2)I was sure when I saw this last night I had seen that begonia with an identification, but I couldn't find it on their website or elsewhere. Then this morning my eye fell on the Logee catalog, and there it was. Why it's not on the website, and why they would fail to identify it properly when you asked, is beyond my understanding. Anyway--it is B. 'Tea Rose'. From the picture I would guess it to be a 'trailing-scandent', and the description says it will 'flower profusely year around' and when given high humidity and heat a 'rich yet sweet fragrance greets the senses.' Sound like a good one for down here! I'm increasingly frustrated with Logee's--seems like their prices go up and the number of offerings decrease with every new listing. But I suppose it's worth the price to encourage them to continue offering at least some!...See MoreOT Pix, maybe help w/some ID's? plz?
Comments (32)Hope all the boys with their injuries are getting better. Yes they will always call and sometimes if the child acts funny they will really make your life miserable. You would think that boys never have accidents they way some of them can act. I was always at the school for some bruise or another with my two and they usually did it to each other, lol. They fought all the time and still don't get along. John says his oldest boy was always good. He said when they went to someones house they could have a box of toys right in front of them and they wouldn't move from where he told them to sit unless he told them it was ok even if the other person told them it was ok to play. I told him thats because he trains us all like the dogs, lol. He makes you want to mind him, lol. I often wonder if my boys would have been different if I had met him sooner. It has surely helped with my daughter. She acts very different around him than she does with her father and he will do anything in the world to please him. I thought he was going to faint when he heard her back talk her father on the phone once, lol. He just expects you to behave and thats it they do it, lol. Even my boys don't act up in front of him. His younger son got arrested once and sat in jail 3 days and wouldn't call and tell him until his brother found out and called us, lol. He would have stayed there forever rather than tell his father he got in trouble. He gets this look on his face and it makes you stand up straighter, lol....See MoreOT - Need Help Identifying Old Clock
Comments (10)Hi Allisaon, Thank You! Still don't know if it was a great buy or not---but I'll take your word for it since I know zippo about old clocks. But now that I have some information (received wonderful responses on the Antiques and Collectibles Forum) I can start doing some research. To think all my new-found interest in old clocks started because Heidi, my insurance lady, wanted us to update our homeowners insurance. I have found myself looking at, even searching out, old clocks while finishing up my holiday shopping this week. Why do I get the feeling that a new collection/addiction is starting? *grin* WonByHerWits, This is sooo neat to hear --- another old clock owner! I think it's great that at least your DH knows the clock was in his family. I would love to have been able to get some history about my clock. I do know the history of the clock that hung in my Dad's parents' kitchen when he was a boy -- he's 82 now. It's the same clock that I heard and was comforted by when I'd stay overnight with my Grandma. That clock is still going strong! Uglier than ugly because of all the layers of paint but at least I know it's history. Nice to read others have these old clocks in their homes ---Thank you! DuluthInBloomz4, Responded to you in the other forum --- Thank you so very much! Patricia43, Wow, great link! I agree with you--- the nicks, scratches and other little imperfections on the clock add to it's charm, it's history, it's story. I don't want to do anything about those nicks and scratches. I just don't want the paper face to continue to loosen or worse, years from now when the clock has been passed down have someone who doesn't know, reattach the paper face with super glue ----Ack! Again, you are correct. The personal value, the sentiment behind this clock mean so much to me. I wouldn't mind having the face reattached by a professional but the rest of the nicks and imperfections can stay as they are. Thank you!!! Oceanna, Your whole post ---What can I say? Wow -- Just, Wow! "long-drop 8-day regulator in the traditional schoolhouse style" You are ------- Again, Wow. Thank you. Sincerely, thank youuuu!...See Morejacqueline9CA
