Our neighbor called yesterday and told my dh not to laugh at what she was about to tell him. She said there is a great big eagle on our deck and I am afraid to get out of the car. We walked over there and sure enough, a young eagle was on her deck railing. She called the DNR, and they asked her a bunch of questions, said he is young and awkward, and is trying to learn to hunt.

It was wonderful to watch him and while, then he flew off the deck and sat by the river. Hope he makes it ok, the parents are probably around somewhere.

I zoomed in on him, since we all wanted to stay well away so we wouldn't spook him (and those talons and that beak are pretty lethal looking!). It was really wonderful to see one so close up.

And we went to opening day at the fair afterwards.

We came home from vacation to find three bats were living in our house. One didn't survive it. They come down the chimney and then get in through the crack between the firebox and doors. We find them regularly in the middle of the night flying about trying to get out...never have we had bad dropping issues. Isn't that odd?

Love the eagle, Joan! I didn't know the babies looked like that. My family members have all experienced eagle sightings, but so far not I.

This hydrangea is Fire & Ice. It's just starting to bloom, and will turn pink soon. Eventually it should catch up to the nearby Limelight, which is 10 ft. tall and 14 ft. wide.

Those naked ladies made me laugh! We had two guys who car pooled to work...the passenger said, "look at those naked ladies " and the driver drove off of the road looking for the real ones!...glad they did not wreck.
