I need pictures of White Subway tile
Comments (24)THANKS for this thread! Am done with the kitchen except for the tile. Like so many of you, I have creamy white cabinets, Barroca soapstone, and wood floors. I always pictured a fancy backsplash in my kitchen. However, I chose the beautiful La Cornue Cornufe 43" stove in Provence Blue. It is so pretty. I knew I wanted 2 x 8 subway tile for the kitchen but I always pictured having a cute little 1/2 inch stick trim all over and also some sort of decorative backsplash. However, the trim would probably go through ALL of my outlets and look all broken up. Any design on the backsplash would be upstaged by the stove. Now I see that just having plain subway tile is classy. Will probably do a pot rack and hang a few pretty things over the stove. It really helped me to see the different variations that everyone has posted-- crackle, gloss, matte, beveled edge, handmade slightly irregular tile vs. having more uniform size of tile, various types of grout, sizes of tile, etc. I have always liked the Mission Tile West (Pasadena, CA) Revival line; am looking at their 2 X 8. It's really flat, not so cushioned on the edges, and I can have really thin grout. It should look a lot like the Ann Sacks Heath photo except for more uniform size and a little glossier. Will try to post a photo when we are done!...See MoreHelp with source for white SUBWAY tiles
Comments (8)http://www.anchorbaytile.com/ I ordered some samples from Anchor Bay Tile. I wanted beveled white subway with edge pieces. I didn't want to have to seal them, either. My samples look great. I've just got to calculate how much I need and place the order. Their Cottage Lane comes in both beveled and flat. It has a number of different end pieces and trim edges. The colors were almond, summer beige and white. I'm ordering the white. I knew almond would be too dark. I ordered the summer beige and white. The summer beige was too dark. I selected the white. The edges are very straight. I plan on using white grout. Here is a link that might be useful: Anchor Bay Tile...See MoreTile for a Craftsman home. Help needed.
Comments (11)I love the arts & crafts/mission/art deco tiles. Thought about going in that direction but too expensive for me. Maybe I'll start collecting a few tiles to just use as art. One thing I thought about doing was taking an individual picture tile or pair and surrounding it in wood-like tile as a frame. Then insetting it in less expensive field tile. But I was uncertain if I could get the looks to match well enough ... I wound up picking a rather inexpensive cement tile to be my backsplash. Haven't installed yet. I was a little surprised with this tile at how thin and surface-oriented and smooth the design was. It almost felt cheap to me, almost like a photo-laminated coaster? But I decided it wouldn't bother me once it is installed. I'd make sure to have a sample in hand though to see if you like it in person. I didn't investigate the use as floor tile though....See MoreHelp finding White Glossy/Polished Tile
