Another beauty, Lois! Good for you for keeping one! :) I'm not a big fan of brown, but I like it with the red much better than with pink. If I made one from my stash it would probably be blue and green.

Your quilt is lovely. I love that it's scrappy and the brown and red are really great together. It's a nice pattern too. As to your question I'm not sure what makes a quilt a favorite. My first guess is the color combination and an interesting but not overly copmplex pattern. I made a very simple 8 pointed star quilt years ago that is still one of my favorites. It hangs on the back of the couch to this day and is used and abused several days a week. It still makes me happy.

"all of the above". Sometimes it is the colour, or on the next quilt, it is the pattern or fabrics. Hard to decide which wins out . Today's favourite may give way to tomorrow's.

I have a quilt that is made from lime green, light gray, and a green/black/gray print on white. It's a simple block but it's one of my favorites due to the fun prints and color combination.

Some or all the above for me, too. I really like color and design over the others but they count, too. Sometimes the design isn't that special but the fabrics are. I have a couple of scrappy quilts that I can't stop gazing at whenever I walk past because each little scrap stays in my memory of what the original quilt was that the fabric was bought for. I made a quilt last year from Missouri Star Quilt tutorials that I gave to DH and I keep telling him I'm going to take it back because I love it so much - called "Pecking Order". This one I'm working on right now I think is going to be one of those special quilts, color, design and quilting design. And I especially love Log Cabin quilts because they are so easy to make.

I was looking at the pictures of some quilts I've made and trying to decide what was it that drew me in to really liking some more than the others. it came down to white/light background used with many colors. I don't love one pattern over the other or one color over the other but I do like using small pieces of fabric in simplistic patterns. At least, that's my answer today. :-)

This is a gorgeous quilt. The little triangles in the border adds a special touch. The browns and deep red have a very classy sophisticated look.

What makes a quilt special for me? A little bit of everything like others have said. Some are special because they represent a milestone in my quilting journey. Scrap quilts are the best for the reason Rita mentioned above - they remind you of more than one quilt, and all the stories around each piece of fabric.

As to what makes me like one over another.....just about every comment made applies; however I find my favorites are the ones that I had a 'vision' to make. No I'm not delusional :-) , but some patterns or fabrics will speak to me and I just go for it. Turns out they are my favs...like Garden gate, chandelier and modern rose.

Ditto here. I have one in the hall that I stop at every time I walk by. It's all applique but stunning and I often think I'll duplicate it in other colors because It's my favorite. Some work out better than others. I have a couple I put away and would give to the first grandchild that likes it because they don't do it for me.

I am not sure what grabs me first. My taste in quilts and colors changes so often, that I am not sure what 'grabs' me.

Pretty quilt.

For me, the favorites are the ones where I've overcome obstacles and came out with a pretty quilt. So, I guess it's the ones that I learned the most and worked on the hardest.

I guess I'm not counting the one that I worked hard on, but didn't like enough to finish (spend $165.00 to get it quilted) or the ones that I took apart before I finished the top and plan to get back to "one of these days".
