The reason most people don't see tomatoes being pollinated is because it's done by the hawk moth (also called sphinx or hummingbird moth), and they don't come out until it starts to get dark. First time I saw one I thought "what the hey is a hummingbird doing out here at 10pm?!" Then I realized I was finally seeing this elusive pollinator. My father-in-law regularly killed them off with pesticides, so he had to take a little watercolor brush and polinate them himself. He called it "putting on my bee suit", and if he didn't he got an extremely poor crop. Interestingly, this moth is the adult form of the tomato hornworm, guess they want to make sure their future generations have a constant food source. I like to let the late season hornworms go to town; they'll pupate and winter over underground, giving me a crop of pollinators and an early start next spring.

Does your insect look like the one in the image linked below? If so, it's a katydid youngster and aren't considered much of a problem as they don't usually arrive in hoards like grasshoppers. If not, I have one more 'guess' up my sleeve, lol. The reason I'm not jumping on this one right away is because I can't see its head. The size of the image has nothing to do with it. So your rosemary is in a planter. Ocean Forest makes several different kinds of soils, but I don't know what the ingredients are. Some potting mixes are absolutely horrible while others do a pretty good job. Rosemary isn't a rapid grower, perhaps you are expecting too much. Be very watchful for over watering if you have it in a large planted with other plants. By the way, I've always considered rosemary a spider mite magnet; aphids and mealy bugs aren't uncommon at all. I would guess any poop that is white (and fresh) would be from a bird. But before my first guess would have been horn worms. I have never dealt with them but have read up on them and what described seemed pretty classic to horn worms. A horn worm will eat a plant down to a leafless skeleton quickly, eating the green foliage but leaving the trunk and branches and they are active at night when you typically won't be looking for them. Go out at night with a flashlight to check for them. If it is birds, your only option might be to try to cover them with bird netting or chicken wire if the birds are bigger. Might be neither. Instead, it's likely that the cracks in the fruit remained open long enough before you picked the fruit that a secondary rot set in. The "fix" would be to pick your tomatoes before they are dead ripe. I collect mine when they have good color but not yet deep red.
