Given the OP is in the UK and the plant is said to be growing wild the most likely candidate would be scentless mayweed, Tripleurospermum inodorum, a common weed of cultivation. Daisies (Bellis perennis) have completey different leaves. Dip1979 - when you are looking at a plant for id purposes try to register all the parts, not just the flowers. A good book will also help, such as Fitter and Blamey's Wild flowers of Britain and Northern Europe. The flora of the UK is pretty impoverished and if you are just beginning to learn wildflowers it is fairly unlikely you will come across anything particularly unusual so a basic book will be ample to start with. Tahoe Gold is a recently-released (2002) mandarin variety developed within the University of California Riverside citrus breeding program. The tree grows vigorously and is somewhat spreading in form, with a tendency to alternate bearing. Tahoe Gold (TDE3) is a hybrid with Temple tangor, and Dancy and Encore mandarins in its parentage. It is a mid-season maturing mandarin hybrid that combines large fruit size, attractive deep orange rind colour, rich fruit flavour and the virtual absence of seeds even in mixed plantings. The season for Tahoe Gold is mid-January to mid-February at Riverside. The fruit does not hold well on the tree. I'm thinking of cutting my "Becky" shastas back today. They got beat down by the rain a few weeks and I've bought some 32 in. fencing from K-mart to encase them in, as they have got so heavy and floppy. I had same at my former house and we got rid of them. This is exactly what I'm planning to do this Fall with these. Will WS "Alaska" variety in its place if not something else completely. Don't seem to be holding up to the high 90's temps we had earlier this week despite watering them every other day or every day.

I'm growing two from seed. It was very hard to find seeds, and I had to go through a lot of the fruits to be able to get these two. Right now the seedlings are very small and they seem to be growing slower than other citrus seedlings. I do have to say, for any of you who haven't had the opportunity to taste Shasta Gold, it's a delicious variety, if you like your mandarins a little bit more on the tart and aromatic side. A lot of this has to do with personal preference though. I've read several comments from people saying Shasta Gold has a kind of weird off flavor, but for me personally I didn't pick up on any of that. Remember this is just my individual personal preference (and I think it's very likely you would disagree) but I think this may be my second favorite variety of mandarin, right below Satsuma. (But then again my preferences are probably not representative of most people, for example I'm not a big fan of Dancy and a lot of people say that's supposed to be the gold standard for mandarin flavor) The fruits are a nice big size too, and not too difficult to peel. I've also had the opportunity to try Tahoe Gold, but to me that has a flavor more like a regular mandarin and I like Shasta Gold better. It's really hard to write reviews because I think a lot of this has to do with individual preference. What I like most in a mandarin isn't going to be what you like. It can also be hard to compare sometimes which one is "better" because some of these varieties can have slightly different types of flavor.
