Matching stainless apron front sink to appliances

I was about to place a cabinet order for a small kitchenette when the sales person asked if I knew if the stainless on the apron front sink I planned to use matched the stainless on the appliances I purchased. He said with it being such a small space the difference in color/shade of the stainless would be noticeable. The dishwasher is right next to the sink. I was planning on using a Krauss sink and the appliances are GE. Has anyone dealt with this before? Is there a way to find out if the stainless colors are compatible? Should I try to call Krauss or GE? Any feedback is appreciated.

I’d worry far more about the cabinet seller weasel who suggested that, and the layout that was created. Post your layout.

It's never going to match perfectly and you don't want it to. The stainless on appliances is really very delicate; scratches/dents can be catastrophic. Not so with the stainless on apron sinks which is solid 18 gauge at least and is easily refinishable. I've pounded out dents to customer satisfaction and removed gouges with my belt sander then matched the factory finish. An apron front sink is a working surface; your dishwasher is not.

For a really fussy customer, I could bring a stainless apron to beyond factory to match an appliance more closely, but it's gonna cost ya.

The basin doesn't even match the apron right out of the box. This difference isn't as pronounced on the Kohlers as opposed to the Urban Place shown here. Apparently the Mexicans don't polish as much as the Chinese.

I have a 33" budget sink from ebay, that seemed to compare to the sinks advertised on Overstock.com. Before I installed the sink, I took it into the back yard, taped the drain hole, and filled it with water to make sure that there were no leaks! The only drawback I've found is the depth--10" is too deep for my comfort when doing dishes by hand. I use an inverted plastic container to raise whatever pan I'm using for wash water. No grid, but I use my dish-drainer in the sink sometimes. It's large, and it fits! So do my roasting pans and cooky sheets, and at least a half-bushel of apples, tomatoes, etc. Because I don't have much counter-space to the right, I pulled the sink forward to leave a 3/4" reveal, to rest a cutting board: I love this sink! We like to wipe our counters into the sink. With a positive reveal, we would then have to wipe off the ledge made by the positive reveal. We have a slight negative reveal, so that is not an issue for us.

Hi nollie, Im afraid I cant help you with the apron versus undermount issue, but my mom came up with a great solution for the single versus double bowl issue. She ended up with a single bowl undermount sink (33"x22"), and she keeps a small plastic tray (roughly 8" wide and 4-5" deep, and about 12" long) in it that she uses as needed, for soaking utensils or other items. So her single bowl can be used as a fake double bowl, or she can just fill up her little tray and not have to fill the entire sink. Perhaps you could go with a single bowl apron, save yourself some $$, and then come up with some type of useful tray/tub item that would serve as your second bowl.

I wish I could give you input on those brands, but I would suggest first seeing if someone on ebay offering a premium sink would be willing to make deals, especially on closeout versions. We made an offer on a Franke a few months ago, and were surprised when they accepted. You just never know what someone might accept!
