Tuesday's flowers and some seedlings

Despite the dryness, we are seeing a lot of rebloom scapes. The toothy ones, which tend to be mid-late are still going strong, but many varieties are bloomed out.

Guns of Navarrone is fairly new here, but I'm impressed by its smooth rich color and height.

Burgundy Eye Shadow is reblooming.

Rosie Cotton's Ribbons is reblooming.

Sonoran Desert Rose is in full bloom. It has more gold edge today than it sometimes has.

We are really enjoying the seedlings. There seems to be something new to see every day.

Abilene Lillian X Empire of Dawn and Dusk

Saber Tooth Tiger tends to give seedlings that look a lot like it. This is one of the more distinctive ones. This Ashwood Summer Sunshine X Saber Tooth Tiger.

I'm sort of surprised by the color of Bass Gibson X God Save the Queen. Some of the siblings have an eye.

Here's one that is showing some pattern. It is Circuit Breaker X Pebble in a Pond. It's a big flower like the pod parent.

We are surprised by the loose form of Dr Jules Michael Vinkman X Empire of Dawn and Dusk.

Heidi Hugs X Tom Adams is a deeper color in person.

Both of these are Interview with a Vampire X Sonoran Desert Rose. The second is my favorite of the two. I put the first one so you can see the variation you might get in seedlings.

This is Lady Stephanie Victoria Redding X a seedling that is labeled Bass Gibson X Forestlake Laura Lee Harding. Bob and I doubt that parentage because the seedling's color is maroon. This one appears to be late blooming.

We were surprised by the looks of this one. Both parents have an eye. It is Sonoran Desert Rose X Norris Seedling T-11-23.

One last seedling . . .

This is Sun Bear X Wandering Werribee. It is a large flower on a short scape. It is its first year to bloom. Hopefully it is taller next year.

Hi Bromadams, thank you for the interesting bits on Ae. Lucky Stripes, I do feel that it has been around for a few years ???? To me a useful plant for introducing cold tolerance and thorn less foliage to some of its' seedlings. hence Why I did this cross. Am sure the F2 generation will give some interesting hybrids though am only interested in the ones which look like Ae. retusa. Image of Ae. retusa for those not familiar with it; Lisaclv; "Hmmm....... several anomalies come to mind here. First, Ae. Lucky Stripes is albomarginated, and as such, generally produces albino seedlings. Mardi Gras, on the other hand, would produce green seedlings, same as an unvariegated gamosepala." Not in my experience Lisa, Ae. luchy stripes creates green seedlings though when crossed with Ae. apocalyptica (variegate) will produce approximagely 5% variegated seedlings with the rest green, though when crossed with Variegated Ae. caudata will often produce albinos. "Second, the plant on the left featured in both pics as Lucky Stripes x retusa doesn't show any signs of retusa." If you saw this plant close up you would have a different opinion both foliage and flower. Images are deceiving when small and poor resolution. You know what Ann?? I like them all! I think they all have lots of potential. As Michele said, a year or more at least to see what they are going to be like. Could be that your no fav will be a dog and the now dog could be a winner. I have been disapointed soooo many times, thinking I had something really good and as it turn out, they sometimes are so different you wouldn't recognize them as the same dls. They all are quite lovely even the one with a bad bloom... Praise The Lord...We got rain tonight...Ellie

Tuesday's two plus seedlings

Debra, the bloom on the Queen is about 6 inches. The plant is very small at this time (it's the maiden bloom). We got these plants in the ground too late last season. It does look like it will have a respectable scape. I looked up the name Queen of the Garden and it was used in 2009 by Petit. Too bad! We have finished planting seedlings this year--somewhere between 1300 and 1400 hundred. I will have a final count later when I finish logging all the crosses. It's a great feeling not to have to worry about the seedlings. Now all we have to worry about is the weeding.

Guns of Navarrone is a pretty shade of purple. Your registration, Rosie Cotton's Ribbons, is such a pretty rose color with that toothy edge! My favorite of the seedlings are Dr. Jules X EoDaD and Sunbear x Wandering Werribee.

Put a picture of Rosie Cotton in the NGA database. All the seedlings are interesting, but I too liked the WW flower.

Rosie Cotton's Ribbons is gorgeous and my favorite! Great seedlings, I esp like the 1st one, AL x Empire and Lady Stephanie x sdlg!

Your Dr Jules V. Seedling looks huge and is lovely. Another favorite is your Abilene Lilian cross. Love the color on Guns of Navarone.

Guns of Navarrone and Rosie Cotton's Ribbons are my favorites of the named group. Your seedlings are so nice! My favorites are the first one and the Dr JMV baby.

Lots of very nice ones, Nancy. However, Circuit Breaker X Pebble in a Pond is really outstanding, heads and shoulders above the rest.

Guns of Navarrone is very pretty.
