Yeah, it will be heavy. Especially with the needed support structure. That looks like it is missing from the island. That had better have steel under it, or you’re going to have a situation of some Bubba leans on it a bit too much. The principle of leverage is still alive and well.

Don’t know if you have kids, etc. but it could make a terrific table top for family room or other high use area....was just at high end mall yesterday (“mall walking” while the kids were shopping) and was noticing the many pieces of furniture made with same quartz material (they had coffee tables, and two level ‘sit and charge/work’ stations)...lots of possibilities! Night stand tops, no water stains to worry about...

Is there support for the quartz island? I wouldn't use it for the table top. It will be too matchy. Maybe use it for a bathroom countertop or something else.

Please advise regarding support for the island. I will need to ask my contractor. If needed can extra support be added after the countertop has been installed. Thank you

While the counter does not additional support to avoid breakage, the cantilever created by extended it that far needs support to avoid it being a tipping hazard. Traditionally steel supports are designed into the cabinet design so that there is no impact to the knees of the people seated. At this stage, it is best to consult your Kitchen Designer about how to integrate support into your design. Remember that most corbels are decorative instead of functional.

Who will be making this table with the remnant? I am asking because two homes ago, I had a similar idea for leftover granite I had. But guess what, that granite piece sat in my garage for years. It was not a top priority, and I couldn't find the time to find someone to make it into a table. That piece just became garage clutter. Left it there when I moved. The new owners said they could use it. I am betting it's still sitting there. YMMV.

I have two 12x12 (2cm) quartz samples that are very heavy. It took 3 buff guys to carry in one of my countertops. A table with a quartz top will be very very heavy, made heavier when you have to add in supports.

No quartz table, however like others said it would be nice in the bathroom.

My friend used the leftover marble for a kitchen table and liked it very much.

It was a round table sized to fit her family of four although five could also fit in relative comfort.

It's a great surface for a kitchen table as it will take much more abuse than a wood surface for example.

I say try it - it's not going to be a large investment as you have the expensive quartz already available and it would go to waste if not utilized.
