I gave Frankie a trim. If you compare this with the first photo, you'll see that the scion on the right has turned all it's leaves up toward the sun. That happened fast! I think it's a good sign. I tried again, this time using a smaller host, grafting smaller trunks, making an effort to work with gravity so there's a better chance of holding when the tape is removed. The variegated piece is actually resting on another branch. It's actually a lot harder working with small pieces because you can't man-handle them and it's harder to find longer sections of bare trunk to work with. I have some Hummel's that I'm going to use next.

Hello grrl, ( That is, I suppose you're female, and not angry ) The official name of your variegated Jade is: 'Crassula obliqua variegata'. Crassula is the name of the genus, obliqua tells you the leaves are pointed and not rounded, variegata ... you can guess that for yourself. Be somewhat carefull in its treatment. The white leaves tend to burn in too much sunlight. If you want younger plants: take leaves with green in them, White leaves cannot assimilate ( use the sunlight for their growing process )and don't grow roots. (As with all jades, just lay such a leaf upon almost dry pottingground and wait. Variegation will not always be present in this clone. This could be the case in your second picture: then it will be just: 'crassula obliqua' ... :) As it has less green in its leafs this plant tends to bend to the light, also it doesn't branch as much as the regular jade. So if you're growing this plant inside: give it a regular turning, is my advice. When branches become long this plant tends to become 'floppy', and they break more easily compared with the branches of the regular jade. If you want to grow it more compact: cut the tops off regularly. This also is true for the not-variegated form. - The lighter colour of your second pic. could also be caused by lack of N (nitrogen) in its feeding. - heat: the plant originally comes from South Africa: it can stand those temperatures for sure. - Watering: I concur with paracelsus Well, anyway, I wish you much succes - and enjoyment - with these plants, and many envious looks from other beholders ;) Jaap ( Greetings from the Hague, Holland )

If you have already thrown it away let me know and I will make you another one and send it to you? The burros tail and string of hearts are very delicate. I almost didn't send them for fear they would not arrive in good shapr but then I figured it was at least worth the chance they would survive. I love them too much not to share. I am feeling better especially since the doctor switched my medicines around. But I am still trying to play catch up and take things slow which is driving me crazy when I have som much to do and so much else I want to add to the list. Any cosmologist would be proud of the up do style on (IMO) better stakes ( an update on a prior pic) Two shoots have growth that stretches to 35 feet from end to end Bowiea volubilis is ready for the town. Some of the other items that are called Misfit onions in the collection include Ornithogalum caudatum It use to have very very long growth w that just got in the way A fast wack and little more fatter it becomes. AKA The AKA "False Sea Onion is faster at pup/ baby making than anything else though. apx 180-200 of them over the past five years some are tossed in pots and mixed in with other sun loving suxs ( Euphorbia cuttings mostly most have been tossed as PIGs it's kind of a bummer that there not zone hardy A sweet fragrant flowering spike fills the late winter air inside. Host: Fast forward 35 or so years for that little one & you should have something that looks like this. You might not get yours to develop the split personality though.
