Comments (2)Looks like your sectional will work well in the space. The chaise side along the windows will be a perfect spot for a cup of coffee, glass of wine, reading or just an afternoon nap. You could add a pair of comfortable chairs to the side opposite the windows. Swivels would be nice for watching the t.v. or enjoying the fire but could then be turned to face the sectional for conversation as well. Something in a beige or camel leather would be nice. Definitely a cozy area rug. Congratulations on both your new lake home and your retirement!...See MoreAsian Mahogany furniture living room - redesign idea needed!
Comments (8)Pleasant looking room. Would not try changing everything at once. You might begin by replacing only the uncomfortable seating and keep the other furnishings. For comfort, you cannot beat a recliner if you want to replace the individual chairs first. There are "ladies" recliners that are smaller as well as huge oversized ones. A platform rocker or wing back chair would be worth considering -- either can be comfortable. Consider a two-seat sofa -- a love seat -- instead of a larger sofa that would fit in the same space as your current sofa rather than crowd the room. Alternately, if you find a two-seat sofa you truly like, and don't want a recliner, you might consider getting a pair of two-seat sofas and set them across from each other -- maybe even keeping one or both of your current chairs to put where your sofa now sits until you find something you truly like to replace them. Sit in what you buy before buying it and make sure it is comfortable for you -- for your size. What is comfortable for a 6'6" guy is usually not be comfortable for a smaller guy or petite female....See MoreLiving room furniture ideas! Help!
Comments (7)In order for us to help you, we need to know what his style is. If unknown, have him put in top search box various styles one at a time and have him note what he likes and doesn't like. Traditional, transitional, modern, shabby chic, glam, casual, country, old world, mid century modern, farmhouse, etc. We also need to know the measurements and a floor plan....See Moreliving room flooring & furnitures ideas
Comments (1)I'm a fan of Scandinavian Modern...with a twist. I would throw down some white or European oak (natural finish...nothing exciting) and then go ahead and use my THREE (3) RED AREA RUGS (6'x8' each....Ikea had a sale!) to create some fun. Then I would drop in some modern white, red and/or black leather sofas...or chairs...or bean bag chairs...or something purple if I could find it. You know. The usual. Ohhh....yah and I would paint the bookshelves a HIGH GLOSS RED paint...maybe some black high-lights. And lots of CHROME...lots and lots and lots of chrome. It would look like someone at Ikea had a psychedelic dream and had used my living room to show what it looked like. But that's me. That's my fun place =;-P By the furniture in your photo, I'm assuming you have different tastes. How about you describe your own style and things you like. Feel free to post pictures of things you find attractive....See More- 5 years ago
