Hi Daviedearest - some of our answer to your question depends on where you are. A climber in California will get a whole lot bigger than one in Nebraska so that can determine how far away you can plant it. In general, the answer in my zone would be "yes" it's fine to plant two roses on a LARGE arbor, particularly if one is a mini. It may be that the mini isn't actually climbing but just wants to be in the ground to settle in. Mini just refers to the size of the flowers, and there are indeed mini climbers, but most potted mini roses are sold for gifts and they tend to be roses that stay small.

If you're talking about a trellis or small obelisk, the answer would change, since some roses can overwhelm those smaller supports in warm zones.

Thanks for your response. I'm in zone 10a Florida so yes I do know how fast & large plants quickly get. I once had a Zephrine Doughine (I'm sure misspelled) a mini baby pink rose, men wore in their suite lapel in "the day", well although beautiful the damn thing almost engulfed the entire house....unbelievable work to keep it under control, therefore I plant ever so slowly & much more wisely. Thanks for your words of wisdom. My main concern that no harm be done to the 2 Nehama roses on the arch planted in memory of my daughter.
