Kitchen ceiling painting
Comments (3)When we redid our kitchen last year our painter, who has painted many times for us over the years, suggested that we do an eggshell finish on our kitchen ceiling. He has never suggested an eggshell finish for the ceilings in any of our other rooms so I was surprised but told him to go ahead. I love the way it looks. My walls are a dark tan color and the ceiling is white. The sheen is subtle but a little richer looking. Last month he painted our master bedroom and I asked him if he was going to do the eggshell finish on the ceiling and his response was no not for a bedroom. So there you have it, a professional painter thinks eggshell is the way to go in a kitchen....See Morepainting kitchen ceiling
Comments (3)Eggshell is what I used on my kitchen ceiling. It's somewhat washable. Ceiling white is a very porous absorbent paint which stains easily and can't be scrubbed. I always use wall paint on ceilings whether flat or eggshell because it is just better paint. Casey...See MorePainting ceiling beams... need color help
Comments (0)My living room has tall slanted ceilings with beams. Being that this is a mobile home, the beams are "fake", and are not real wood, just paper finish glued onto thin boards. If they were real I'd leave them alone. I'm fixing the walls to make them more like real walls. I removed the firring strips and taped the seams, then I textured the walls. The color scheme is going to be either Olympic Vanilla Tan or SW Champagne for the walls, and Valspar Terra Cotta Clay or SW Canyon Clay for the fireplace wall. The trim will be some kind of white but I'm not sure exactly what shade of white. I don't know what to do about the beams. Should they match the color of the ceiling, the trim, or the walls?...See MorePainting the bathroom - ceiling and vanity color?
Comments (14)Well I do plan a more extensive makeover next year or the year after with vanity and countertop replacement and probably floor, and tile backsplash...but I just can't stand looking at this "1980 rental apartment" bathroom every morning for an indefinite period! Thanks for the tile frame idea that's great! It would not take a lot if tile and could really dress things up! Yes I think the light fixture has got to go- but with what? I have never picked light fixtures before and don't know where to start- it is the only source of light and the shower is on the other side of the room so it needs to throw some light up to the ceiling as well as down. I thought of building some kind of soffit like shade in front of it and then using brighter bulbs... Does that sound crazy? So what about several shades lighter of revere pewter for ceiling or should I just go white? Maybe a darker color in the same taupey grey family for the ugly vanity... And I'll add hardware to dress it up. This post was edited by tinan on Tue, Jul 16, 13 at 12:26...See Morecali59
