Contemporary/Transitional Interior Door Hardware
We're looking at interior door hardware for our NW Contemporary (with interior edging a bit more transitional) home. We looked at and really liked the Emtek Triton and Basel levers; either would be in matte black with a modern rectangle rosette.
Then we got the price for the Emtek, prompting a search for other options. We may still go with Emtek, but I'm hoping I can find a less-costly alternative. We're looking form something that's widely available (in case we need to replace them), comes in matte black, and has more contemporary look. Schlage is one option, but I couldn't find a comparable look, and it may be a bigger step down in quality than we want.
Is there nothing between Emtek and Schlage? Does Schlage offer something similar to these? Are there other brands I should check out?

I haven't worked my way through Kwikset DLM2000, as I was concerned about the quality. They're next on my list to check out though. Thanks for the feedback on your experience.

Comments (2)Bifolds are usually chosen for spaces that are tight. That doesnt't give a lot of options. Accordion doors intrude into the room less than bifolds, but are generally pretty ugly, IMO. Pocket doors take up no space in the room, but may not be a practical choice. A tambour door would have a contemporary look to it. If you want to mke the space seem more spacious, mirrored bifolds are a good choice. I have a set in my bedroom, and the mirrors amplify the natural light nicely. If these spaces need venitllation, louvered bifolds are the obvious choice. As to sources, the big box stores are only good for the most conventional products. Some cities have "The Door Store." Comments (12)I was in a funk when I bought that ugly sofa but will work on other things first. So much brown! I also am very tired of the cabinet & considering placing TV on fireplace wall vs. no tv and large decorative fireplace wall item. Our books & records are important to us; we don't have space for bookshelves elsewhere. This room is used primarily for reading, listening to music, talking with friends. Will rearrange shelves as suggested by deegw (above) & add some colorful decorative objects Paint the shelves? Will definitely replace fireplace screen as well as wrought iron railing going upstairs. Comments (3)I chose Round...if they loosen up a little, they won’t get wonky like the square. Constant issue with my square rosettes in my last house. Although I have to say that I do not have that issue much with this hardware which is Emtek compared to my last house..Bravura....See More
