Farmhouse or Undermount sink???
Comments (10)It depends on what your splashes are from. If your splashes are from holding spoons wrong in the water stream, it's not gonna matter. But a short person is going to get more use out of the bowl of a sink if the bowl of the sink is closer to them. More splashes will be contained when items are being washed closer to the center of the bowl. A forward-positioned sink lets the short-armed user use the middle of the sink instead of the front. (Make sure you select a faucet with a long enough spout, too, Shorty! Stretching while working is no fun.)...See MoreApron Sink or Farmhouse Sink - Stainless Steel - 16 gauge retro fit
Comments (8)In my business, the cabinet installer sets the farm sink or apron front sink. Then the quartz or granite (or whatever) tops are templated with the sink in place by the countertop fabrication company. Two weeks later, they set the tops....then I send out the plumber for the hookup....See MoreMixing metals-stainless steel farmhouse sink with brass hardware?
Comments (25)To the OP, if you decide on an apron front sink in stainless steel, make sure to look at how the front panel is made. You don’t want a curved one. You also don’t want a SS apron front that is super thick. What Joe Corlett pictures above is more what you want. Some of the cheaper ones have the super thick apron - it intrudes into the usable floor area of the sink. An extra-thick apron also removes the ergonomic advantage of an apron front which is that it is easier on your back to have your body directly against the sink, than to have the slight lean required with an undermount sink with its several inches of counter in front of it. I like the design of the Elkay apron front sink, because it also has an offset corner drain, an advantage. However, I don’t have direct experience with it so I unfortunately can’t advise on whether it’s a quality sink or not. What you DON’T want - this apron front is more than 5” thick: The Elkay ECTRUF30179RC, https://www.homedepot.com/p/Elkay-Crosstown-Farmhouse-Apron-Front-Stainless-Steel-36-in-Single-Bowl-Kitchen-Sink-with-Bottom-Grid-and-Drain-ECTRUF30179RC/305866142, the apron front is 2-1/2” thick....See MoreKohler Stainless Steel Farmhouse sink and counter edge question
Comments (12)Joseph Corlett, LLC- Thank you for the picture. I don't like under-mount sinks at all - there's something germ-catching to me about that underside where the sink hangs - had one in a house I finally sold and I never, ever liked it. I'm re-thinking the drop-front sink and may get a drop-in sink, same sink but without the apron front. I'll definitely have a cutting board that fits over the sink. Kohler used have made-to-fit cutting boards for just about every one of their sinks so it had a little edge underneath that allowed you to slide the sink from one end to the other. I need to investigate something like that....See MoreWendy Ehrlich
